Nice work Rich...the brush work gives it a nice life.

And now for something in my VERY different style, here's an upcoming WOD page for WASTED #5 this fall:

Radiator did a great job on this one.

I agree that we make a pretty good team. We've worked together before on a Wolverine Vs. Venom picture, which turned out very well with Tom's colors. I've just update my blog with a little entry aout our boy RAD and you can see the pic over here http://gibsonquarter27art.blogspot.com/

Creative Common / Re: Writer/Artist Relationships
26 June, 2010, 02:47:23 AM
I USED to make sure that I did everything exactly as the writer mentioned/asked for....I'd try and jam it all in there.

Now that I've done it for a while, I look for the bare bones of what elements MUST be in there, then I look for how to make it cool/dynamic on an art level! This is important to me. The thinking goes like this: writers WANT the book to look good, that's why they hire artists they like. This is where the art part of the 'team' comes into play. So far, (touch wood) everyone I've worked with has liked what I've added. I find that 2 creative folks (writer+artist) combine to make a stronger overall product.

If I HAD to put in EVERYTHING that writers often describe (especially beginning writers!), I'd lose my mind and not enjoy my work.

Writers need to let the artists have room to do their thing, and worry about art stuff like narrative page flow, dynamism  etc.

Thats my 2 cents anyways...

Cheers!

So Wasted #4 is now out, and I have my copy in hand.

Sigh.

They used a few pages of OLD art that I've now redrawn and no one was suppossed to ever see. For the full story and the REAL scans, please check out my blog, as it explains all. If you wanna see how an artist can 'grow' in a few years, pick up the mag and compare the old to the new. You'll notice a BIG difference!

Oh, and there's a Guy Davis drawing of 'Johnny K' up there too.  :D

In Photshop...here's what I do.

Flatten image
converst to CMYK
Select all -Ctrl A
copy  -Ctrl C
Cut   -Ctrl X
then go to channels  and pick ONLY Cyan
Paste -Ctrl V
then go back and selct all cmyk layers  and you'll see it blueline.

From there make a new layer and print at whatever opacity you wish to see the lines.

Hope this helps!
