Ben10 (ten...pwwnnndd!) is good...but my boy's just moved on to Phineas and Ferb...brilliant!

Absolutely.  While I have a lot of time for Ben 10 (Alien Force a little more than the original maybe) Phineas and Ferb is a work of pure genius. I keep telling people it's the funniest kids/adults crossover cartoon since Dangermouse but as soon as they hear DISNEY they switch off.

If you try it though, give it 3 or 4 episodes cos while it's funny enough from the get go you only really appreciate its true greatness when you get to know all the recurring characters and slip into the rythm of the running gags.

By the way, hadn't heard about Evolutions so just Googled it and gotta say, it looks intriguing.

Hiya Faplad! The Mark Billingham book is pretty much brand new, only been out a few weeks, it's called "Blood Line," and it's a new Tom Thorne one, not a stand alone like "In The Dark." It's well worth a read!

Well, I know what I'm doing this weekend. Cheers for the heads up.

recently finished the new Mark Billingham book. It rocks.

How New is new? Is this In The Dark or has he brought something out more recently. I ask because I absolutely love his books (despite being beaten by the twist in, oh, all of them) but I've not been on a proper book run for a while.

Hello there

I started reading in the early 900's and have always collected my copy each week from a local newsagent. Never considered subscribing.

The trades are a Godsend though for getting to read the earlier stuff I missed out on. I know that scanned versions of pretty much anything can be found online if you look hard enough but I'm always willing to buy legitimitely if publishers make the effort to keep their stuff in print.

I'm really curious about what Judge Dredd: The Mega-City One Archives is going to be.

Wondered about that myself. Best guess I came up with is that it's gonna be CFs for Megazine stuff. Could be totally on the wrong lines of course but won't the current CFs be at about that point? It was all before my time as a reader so I'm not sure of the timing.

Just read Back To Brooklyn and The Pro but wrote about them in the Garth Ennis thread. The other one I picked up, and which I,m about halfway through is The Furies. This is Mike Carey doing The Sandman and since I'm loving the Lucifer collections I thought I'd give it a go. So far, the story seems like another example of Carey totally 'getting' Sandman. This reads, to my mind at least, as proper Sandman, totally in keeping with the style and tone of the series. Course, he could bollix it up before the end but I doubt it.

The art though. It's one step away from being a photo story it's so realistic. John Bolton, who could be a megastar for all I know but I've never heard of him, is blowing me away with this stuff. I'm usually a traditionalist whwn it comes to art but for some reason this bloke has totally won me over. I can't put my finger on why but he's completely changed my opinion of photo realistic art in comics, so well done that man.

Read The Pro and Back To Brooklyn yesterday. Was a bit surprised by the ending of The Pro. What had been a quite light hearted read ending in the way it did could have been a wrench but they pull it off. Have to admit,
her giving the villain a golden shower at the end of the fight
made me piss myself laughing (no pun intended), on the bus home. Got some funny looks I can tell you.

Gotta say though, have to agree that the bit in Back To Brooklyn with
his wife being a bad 'un
did kind of come out of nowhere, as Tiplodocus noted, but I'm not sure he ended up looking as bad as the rest of them though. I'd have thought that
killing your own mother cos she turned out to be a psychotic bitch
probably takes a certain strength of character. Yeah, he's done really bad stuff but just the fact that he's willing to make any kind of stand, against everything he's ever believed in, makes him something of a hero, regardless of his methods. It woud have been very easy to turn a blind eye.

Have to say, as differet as they both were I loved both of these books. Maybe I have a little bit of hero worship going on but I can't think of whwen Garth Ennis last let me down.

Prog / Re: Prog 1647 : The chin is in!

I know I'm late and no-one cares any more but here goes.

Dredd was great, as it has been for as far back as I can remember. When did we last have a bad one? Ewing and Edgington are more than capable of filling any Wagner shaped holes so with a bit of luck we could be seeing the end of naff Grant And Mills filler. I know they are both legends on the character (even Pat, though I'm gritting my teeth as I type it) but their time is past. Assuming Ewing dosn't do a Rennie or Spurrier we're quids in.

I think Sir Isaac and The Chevalier are a fantastic double act and could happily read them for as long as Ian dgington wants to write them. Fantastic stuff.

Sinister Dexter can do no wrong for me story wise and since Anthony Williams is on fire at the minute that's another hit.

This is were the prog goes wrong for me. Don't really like the Twisted Tales in general and this one is no different. A touch easier to follow than some of his other efforts(except for that bit on page 4 that someone else mentioned. What is going on there?) but not really doing it for me.

And then there's Defoe which has nice art.

3 1/2 out of 5 isn't bad going for a prog coming into the end of a season by any means. A thumbs up.

By the way, if a post saying much the same as this one but longer and ending mid sentence crops up on the board somewhere forgive me. I have no idea what I did but I was half way through typing a fucking essay and it cut out and tried to load the Cradlegrave thread for no apparent reason. I think my laptop is cursed.

Okay, I think David must have posted whil I was typing my second one cos I've just noticed it while checking out what Emperor had to say.

At this point,I feel I have to confess that (don't laugh, I wasn't kidding before about my skill level) I believed the first paragraph of his post. If I'm honest, I was half convinced the second paragraph was real, just exaggerated for comic effect.Aah, the naivete of the (not so) young.

Have to say though, if he doesn't work in a tech support help centre he's seriously missed his calling.

Okay, after 3 hours it's put itself right and let me back in without any action on my part. So, you know, never mind.

Although if someone knows why it hapened and whether I can expect a repeat performance ,cos like I say I didn't "fix" it, that would be appreciated. Maybe I can avoid it in future.

Help! / Google Doesn't Like Me

First of all, the face saving little bit that goes at the start of almost all my posts. I know absolutely nothing about computers and basically just use them to come on here and look stuff up on wikipedia so please forgive me if this is a really stupid question. There.

Google has taken a dislike to me. It won't let me read anything connected to blogspot. I was only this morning making my way through a few progslog entries but now, when I try to get back on it won't let me because my system may be trying to make automated requests. I'm guessing they mean spam? Anyway, I tried Thrillpowered Thursday and the covers blog and got the same response.

I clicked on the help button and it told me I should have one of those squiggly puzzle things that I can use to prove I'm human but there is nothing there. So then it says I need to use some kind of software that tracks malicious software.

My question is, is there an easy way around tihs or do I need to download loads of new software, which would tax my technophobe brain no end. If I do need to download something, would you recommend any in particular.

The thing is, the laptop came with Norton installed and I recently shelled out for a renewal. This says my computer is clear and secure. Is this not something Norton does? (I know,I know, but I refer you to my first paragraph)
