Film & TV / Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series

Dudes, I'm surprised! As far as the GNs go, I'm with you now Locust -Vol 15 was essentially pages and pages of a character saying 'this is how I fell', followed by another character going 'Yeah? Well this is how I feel', ad nauseum. Not sure I'll bother with anymore.

But for me the show is capturing what was best about the earlier GNs, and it's doing it very well. It's a fine cast, the acting is, IMO, really rather good (some better than others), and I find the whole thing is dripping with tension. Not all that tension is due to the dead themselves, but rather how the survivors' relationships are unravelling. Shane is still the highlight for me.

Like that Static.

As the long-rumoured Robocop reboot is being talked about again, I felt inspired to do this:

Nice one Ian! I must point out that these ones aren't technically 10 minute portraits - the original pencil drawings were, but then I enlarge them in PS from 12x9cm to 20x15cm, print them out in faint blueline and ink over the top. They don't take long because I want to keep the looseness of the original drawings but I don't time myself with these.

Damn that's sad news about Ralph McQuarrie. Years ago I picked up the concept art portfolios for both A New Hope and Jedi - each one containing about 20 prints of Ralph's paintings, and they're absolutely stunning. A true visionary, who's contribution to the Lucas legend can never be underestimated.

Cheers Neil, was thinking I might put together a montage every time I reach a landmark number - it'll be 100 this monday... David Frankum also gave me the idea of exhibiting the whole lot, which I really like. I've never had an exhibition. Putting the feelers out to a few places in Liverpool.

Reckon he'd make a pretty good Murphy. I was very excited about this when Aronofsky was attached, but now... well we'll just have to wait and see.

The missus found a small cache of Peroni on sale and brought it home to me!  The very first sip and I was back in the blessedly cool basement of the Mergellina hostel in Naples in 1997, where they sold a cold half-litre bottle and a plate of spaghetti pomadoro for 1,500 lira (which wasn't much even then, about a pound I think).  I could hear the incessant honking of the horns and feel the throbbing of my feet, and savour the exhausted satisfaction of a day tramping about the slopes of Vesuvius. Taste and memory (and beer), you can't beat it.

This almost brought a lump to my throat, beautiful!

It's fifteen years.

I agree though - hope they have something special planned for the finale...

All-Dante prog with two variant covers - one by Fraser, one by Burns?

Well, I can dream...

Seriously Tharg & co - this needs to happen.
