Books & Comics / Re: PARAGON #7 out now!

My comp copy was waiting for me on the mat when I got home yesterday - cheers Dave. The glossy cardstock on the cover works a treat - hope you keep doing it this way!

Haven't read the strips yet, will get stuck in tonight.

That's cool, very accomplished. He could do with beefing up a bit though.

Nice one for finding these CFM - 2000AD's presence on DevArt needs beefing up too, and you're doing a fine job.

That sounds perfect. I can almost picture the Ian Gibson panels to accompany such a description.

Should the page count allow it, would you ever consider printing 'star-scans' - they were always a highlight of the prog for me in the old days, and Liam Sharp's recent ABC Warriors have been a big hit it seems.

Whereas the more I look at it the more I come to believe that James McKay is a genius.

Sorry, don't like the look of that. You can tell his son's from a video game background.

Hellblazer arrived safe and sound, thanks Cosh, you're a gent.

Hi guys, I thought I'd post James McKay's website here (I built it for him) so you can see what kind of art he's been producing up to now.  Most of the work on the website is in colour, and a lot of it is from his French album series City of Secrets.  One thing I can tell you about James is that he knows his stuff when it comes to dinoasurs; you can pretty much guarantee the illustrations in Flesh are accurate to our current knowledge.

Thanks for this, I've been meaning to try and find a website or blog to see more work. You're absolutely right about him knowing his dinos - in fact lining him up for Flesh was a bit of a no-brainer wasn't it? Apart from knowing his dino anatomy though, he's also great at getting the looming perspective of a charging carnosaur too. Very mpressive.

Don't wanna know.

What CFM said. Sometimes I loosely sketch out the shape of the whole head first, other times I leap right in and just start with the eyes.

Prog / Prog 1725 - Destroyer of worlds!

A cracking prog, with Dredd coming to a satisfying ending and some fantastic panels from the Higgins droid. Loved the idea of the
emp grenade taking Dredd's eyes offline
for a few moments.

Shakara continues to be brilliantly bonkers in every way, and I will weep a tear or two when it finishes.

Flesh is absolutely awesome this week too, and after the discussion last week about Mckay's art - well, for me any tiny doubts have already been forgotten. He really shines this week, with so many memorable pics of Gorehead and Boots McGurk.

The Future Shock was pretty entertaining, and I enjoyedthe greyscale art from Joel Carpenter (not someone I've come across before but one to watch in the future)

And Kingdom... ah, Gene dog. Perfect ending to what has been my favourite run so far. Please come back soon, there's a good dog.

Bit of a change for me this one, it's Hugh Jackman in The Fountain:

I hope Kingdom runs and runs. It's too good to end!

Nah, seriously though I realise it will end, but when it does Tharg is gonna have to work overtime to replace it with something equally as zarjaz.

And I agree that Shakara is classic thrill power too. Is this the final book do we know? If so it too will be sorely missed.
