I thought they'd already started filming the sequal.

That is a lovely cover. If the finished article is much like that then I may even buy it despite having bought the trade only a year or so back.

Top thrill for me this week was Ampney and it has been a cracking run for the strip. The cover was particularly gorgeous. However it was an all-round excellent prog, with Dredd also covering a very interesting part of the Chaos Day fallout.

had an interview for a promotion at work today. Wasn't really expecting to get the job and have now found out that i didn't. Hopefully the date i'm on tonight will go a bit better, although the fact that I managed to arrange it for Valentine's day without realising isn't really the best possible start.

I can't draw worth a damn and always have that at the back of my mind when it comes to commenting on artists and their work. I always think that no matter how bad the piece in front of me it's 1000 times better than anything I could do. I don't think that with Leifield's work. Even at the age of ten (many years back now)I could see that his stuff was just dreadful. Give all of the men the same facial expression, massive guns and even bigger muscles. the women have to have big tits and porn-star facial expressions. Fuck that.

Dr Who and the Daleks was on the TV over the weekend. I hadn't ever seen it and not being a Who fan wondered where it would fit in with the TV series. After three minutes i realised it didn't and I assume Who fans ignore it or cough nervously if it ever gets mentioned. My word it was dreadful, although seeing Dr Who (and in this that actually is him name) reading a copy of Eagle at the start was a nice touch.

I was at a meeting recently where someone was asked to "capture the information going forward." Which meant they had to take the minutes.

Maybe not a plothole, but I could never understand why Dredd was able to be flown to Hondo during Judgement Day when nothing could fly. There was some comment about keeping Justice 1 (I think they used) in line with the city but it didn't make sense to me.

General / Re: The 2012 COVER OF THE YEAR Vote.

An incredibly tough choice this year but after a lot of thinking I'm going for:
1. 1771A
2. 1781
3. 1804

I tip my hat to all of the artists though, as the standard was really high and made choosing just three almost impossible.

I dislocated my shoulder a couple of years back by falling off a bicycle. luckily I was absolutely hammered when it happened* so didn't feel the pain as badly as i could but it still wasn't much fun.

*I realise my drunkeness almost certainly caused the accident as well as acting as a painkiller.

Prog / Re: Prog 2013

Picked up my copy from the local newsagent yesterday no bother.

I see there has been some grumbling but i thought this was an excellent prog, even though it follows the majestic Trifecta. Absalom and Aquilla were both excellent and really makes me want them back in the Prog as soon as possible. I think the run of strips we'll be getting to start 2013 with are a really good mix and I'm especially thrilled by the return of Johhn Alpha.

My only minor criticism would be about the Red Seas. I really enjoy both writing and artwork but it seems to have been away for so long that I can't remember what has brought us to the start of this part. This may be more of a criticism of my memory though than anything else. Oh, and with The Visible Man, which I really enjoyed when it was printed in some special back in the early 90s but I struggle to see the effectiveness of ending with a cliffhanger when we know it's a one-off and may never be seen again.

However these are just minor gripes about what is an excellent prog to end what has been a fantastic year. Congratulations to all those involved for giving us such heavy doses of Thrill-Power.

I'd like to see Hap Hazzard make a come back.

I watched the remake of Red Dawn over the weekend. I hadn't thought it was possible to make a more pointless film than the original version but somehow they have. As much as the first film is incredibly stupid, I have a soft spot for it and it's one of those films that when you wonder why on earth it was made you just have to shrug and accept that a lot of films were made in the 80s than can only be explained by the fact that it was the 80s. The remake/reboot doesn't have that excuse. It's very similar to the first one but just lacks a bit of something and annoys throughout. There's a real gloss and sheen to this version that just makes it that very smug and much more ridiculous (I am aware that the premise of both films is utterly ridiculous already.) And it doesn't have C Thomas Howell trying to shoot down a helicopter with an Ak47 in it, so it loses out on that score as well.

The costume does look silly but they might not bother giving a reason as to where he gets it from. They certainly didn't in the Raimi spider-Man film. One minute he's wearing the crap costume he uses for wrestling, the next it's the new fangled one.

You're all strange. Just put them on a shelf, it doesn't matter to the order.

BAN THIS POSTER.

This sort of filth wouldn't be allowed if Roger was a Mod.

Someone has to stand firm against the tidal wave of madness regarding spines and shelves.
