Creative Common / Selling Prints Online. (Advice)
15 October, 2012, 01:10:42 PM
Hello,

Has anyone had any experience doing this?  Have looked at sites like Zazzle, Etsy etc, would like some first hand advice. Have scoured the internet all weekend and also looked at the US sites, POD looks promising.

Thanks,

Mark.

Hello,

First off, this isn't me with a begging bowl but I could really use some good advice here.

I'm up to my eyeballs in money trouble. Never sold any of my art before, always gave pictures as presents for birthdays, Xmas etc. But now I really need to start making money, been out of work for a while after getting laid off again.

So, here's my plan starting from today. After looking on ebay and seeing whats selling I'm going to start by picking a theme (Star wars seems really popular) and knock some pieces up myself.

So say today I draw Vader, ORIGINAL PIECE on bristol board and then produce some prints (coloured and enhanced on PS) limited to 5-10 on nice glossy hi-res card. What kinda price should I be looking at? Also selling one print with the original piece?

I also have loads of art work lying around, like those dark judges. Was thinking of selling those as prints, again limited, as well as the original pieces.

Also going to dust off the paint brushes and knock a few canvases out.

Where do I stand on copyright in all of this?

Thanks,

Mark.

Creative Common / Experiment
23 January, 2012, 01:21:45 PM
Hello,

Set myself a little test.

When it comes to drawing, I'm pretty slow. Not at the actual drawing bit just the journey I take to get there - overthinking positions, story telling and then I find I always end up going back to the first idea I had anyway. Like a woman shopping ;)

Anyway, just as an experiment ,I decided to try and speed things up a bit.

Came up with an idea, no script and thought I'd just go for it.

The work is on A4 Photocopy paper, inked with a pentel brush pen and then coloured (if you can call it that) in PS. tHE 1ST Page took 20 mins and the following three took roughly an hour and half each.

Just a bit of fun, learned quite a bit though.

Cheers!
