Oh phew, it's not just me.  Last time I went to the cinema (which admittedly was years ago) it cost £7 and I think that that is excessive.

I thought it was maybe one of these new fangled 3D movie showings you kids all enjoy so much.

I loved In Bruges, but got put off Seven Psychopaths when I heard the premise.
Self-referential films about films
don't appeal to me at all.

I was equally put off by the premise when I first came across it.  One of the IMDB reviews convinced me to give it a go.

To me, it looks like what it is: a typical modern-day rethinking of a ballsy 1980s action flick. I imagine it'll do well and be OK, but I'm not expecting much. Mind you, that trailer was handy—I've seen the entire movie in two minutes and don't have to spent 15 quid in the cinema now.

15 Quid?!? Has it really been that long since I last went to the cinema?!?

Seven Psychopaths - I enjoyed it thoroughly but it was a bit too much of a boy's flick for me.  I appreciated that it was self aware even in that aspect when the script writer character is told he can't write women.  Well structured, interesting and a great cast.

I watched the trailer for this film this morning and I can't say I was excited.  It looks like it will be another case of Total Recall - we'll get the three boobs but we'll lose the depth.  Robocop is an amazing movie with amazing subtleties and nuances beyond a cyborg shooting people.  The remake looks like it's just going to rehash old cliché sci-fi tropes.  In a way it is a good thing that awful remakes are made because then we can better appreciate the original and what made it good in the first place.

That being said, I'll give it a chance but my expectations are quite low (just like they were with Total Recall and that film still managed to disappoint - gah, it was awful).

Doing something similar with the Meg. Good fun innit!

Welcome aboard

It certainly is.  I love reading a prog with my morning coffee everyday (and maybe a few more through out the day if I feel like a break).  It's also fun reading the input page and the controversies of the times, like when 2000AD started utilizing digital colouring and the Valkyries 'debate'.

Thank you COMMANDO FORCES, Colin_YNWA and SimeonB for your warm welcomes.

As an old hand at both the internet and 2000AD it was about time I tried and merged the two interests :)

Hiya, Pictsy. That's a mountain of reading you've given yourself, there.

Tell me about it.  I started around autumn last year with my very first copy of 2000AD, Prog 897.  I'd say I'm round-about half way through.  It's nice to finally be reading some stories that I missed out on for all those years that I was made aware of when I started collecting again.  One prime example is Leviathan.

I am glad to see that Craddlegrave has already been suggested.  I think the short self contained series' would generally translate better to cinema than the long running series.  With that in mind, my suggestion would be Rain Dogs.

Hello, I'm Pictsy and I'm a budding illustrator.

I have been collecting 2000AD for about 20 years now - minus those five years when I stopped.  Never fret though, for I have recently purchased back issues to fill the gap in my collection and I am currently making my way through them.

I am currently enjoying reading Cabalistic Inc. the start of Low Life, The Red Seas, Samantha Slade, the aftermath of Total War and the continuation of Nikolai Dante - as of writing this I have just finished reading Prog 1431, so I still have a long way to go until I am caught up.

I am also enjoying the currently released Progs as well.  The highlight has certainly been Chaos Day - especially the aftermath.
