Dinosty is one of those Pat Mills works that can't find it's focus. It's so haphazzard. I will say one thing, though: as soon as I flip to something like Dinosty, I know Pat Mills is responsible. Saurcery indeed.

Dinosty.

Oh wait. Will anyone be pissed I mentioned this one...cause I mentioned it in the other, positive, thread as well. I love it and I hate it.

Agreed, grimmbrother - the FQ boys are great at giving constructive crit. Bolt and his Lordship really made me feel as though they cared as much about my script as I did. Class guys.

So suddenly Jim!

What a great comp this month...I can never find the heart to go back and look over the entries, because I always feel I should have voted contrary to wehat I did! I am flush with envy when I see these talents on display.

Good luck to you sir! I can relate - I've been tinkering with a Future Shock for months, but I figure instead of waiting 6-9 for a rejection, I'll simply fiddle with it until I feel it's perfect (now the fear of tinkering too much seeps in).

I'm sure several of the writers and artists on the board would read through it and give an honest opinion. I would for sure!

Happy posting in any case!

November 18th sale date! Bloody hell, I've missed it and I can only imagine it flew off the shelves!

Anyone read it? Any "Plague of the Zombies" vibes to it?

Edit: Already on backorder on the Things From Another World site.

Film & TV / Re: Alien3 (Assembly Cut)
22 November, 2009, 10:04:20 AM
I have a much better appreciation of the film (in either cut, to be honest) than I did when I saw it in the cinemas way back.

The problem for me was that Aliens was (and still is) one of my favorite films...so to go from one Alien to a hive back to a single Alien was disappointing. Now I can watch it and enjoy it, and knowing what a mess David Fincher and the entire production was in, I only appreciate it more!

I still have a hard time with Alien: Ressurrection, and I simply cannot justify the AVP films. Sorry.

That's funny Mangamax...a while back I posted a thread to discuss that. Maybe I'll dig it up...

Last time I'll mention my wife and Afghanistan - but I jusr realized I signed up on this board the day after she was deployed and here I am posting the day after we found out she won't have to again. You fellows have been here to make me laugh and think and deal with everything since tha time. I can't wait to meet most of you at Hi-Ex and just say hello! Maybe, maybe if I can swing it, we'll have a round on me!

(suddenly attendance triples)

Film & TV / Re: Soloman Kane

After what production material we've seen from the Conan film, that won't be one of the two... :'(. Solomon Kane does indeed look good, and hopefully great. There are some minor details I don't like, such as Kane on a "redemption quest", but I can live with them. As for the third, if you mean Red Sonja (even though not really Howard), if it's fun and sexy, what the hell - I'm up for it. If the third film is the long rumored Bran Mak Morn, well then it had better be good, a he's my favorite REH character!

General / Re: Is Slaine really Cu Chulainn?
21 November, 2009, 08:41:13 AM
Personally I don't mind Slaine having been killed, coming back, dying again, ect. - it goes well with the Celtic/Irish concepts of life and death, 'thin places' and all of that. It's the execution that bugs me from time to time.

Slaine is always so hit or miss. Great fun epic one arc, boring expositionary piece the next, rip-roaring adventure followed by redundancy. Lately, the stroies haven't been so good. Do I mind reading them? Not realy. Do I wish they were better? Yes.

But Mills overall is hit or miss. Every series he's responsible for is like that.
