I dreamt last night that I was the only person sitting in the cinema.

Did you have to keep telling yourself to shut up and watch the movie?

QuoteIt's the complete mirror to Trek's "why can't we all just get along?" ethos.

I've never figured out why, exactly, this is a rod to beat the show with.

I've seen that, yeah, but I've never really watched Star Trek much. I had a friend in college that was a huge fan of Trek, and he convinced me to watch a few episodes with him (I think it was Enterprise). I just couldn't get into it, but that may be because I had NO IDEA what was going on. I'm sure I might think differently if I started from the beginning but I just don't have the time to commit to it. But who knows...I am on this sci-fi tv kick right now...I've lined up Battlestar Galactica (both series - I used to watch the reruns of the original when I was a kid and have good memories of it) and Buck Rogers (ditto).

Not read the mag yet - I've been waiting for my hardcopy to arrive. I hate reading comics on a screen.

Slightly off-topic, but does anyone know if the REs from previous platforms will ever be available on the newer platforms (ie for download, like how you can get all the old Marios and such on the WII). I'd love to have the first three REs and Code: Veronica again (2 still being my favorite).

Other than that he has a fair point about reprinting the Jikan strips my one appeared what eighteen months ago, so asking someone to take a punt on thirty two pages of small press comics when a quarter of it is consistently reprint somewhat lessen the values.

I do agree...perhaps printing a Jikan chronicles after they appear in the mag might be the best route. But I do know you have a backlog of Jikan scripts, both finished and in production, so getting them out there is cool for the writers in artists so that they don't have to wait so long to see their work in print. I personally enjoy the Jikan Chronicles, and quite like reading a comic that's ALL Jikan.

Or perhaps you might...not send out the Jikan Chronicles for review. I suppose it's a double-edge sword - don't send out the Chronicles for review and risk no one knowing about it or sending it out and risk having a review like this, in which the reviewer discourages folk from buying Paragon because of the reprint.

That said, I felt the last paragraph of this review was unnecessarily mean-spirited. The guy can dislike the product, sure, but he ought to respect the effort that went into it. You (and the writers and artists) don't do this for money, they do it out of love of comics. The effort put into each and every mag ought to at least afford a bit of constructive criticism. Methinks that fellow woke up on the wrong side of bed when he wrote this review.

So far I'm lukewarm towards FarScape. It doesn't have the organic feel that Firefly did, and the characters don't seem quite so "down to Earth". I have read that I need to give it half the first season, though.

I do wish I owned a couple of those puppets, though. The mischief I'd get into with them...

Main thing is not to let all this technical stuff hold you back from doing the important stuff... the comic!

Cheers, brian - sound advice. I started thinking about a webcomic because I have TOO much material to ever put it out on my own print-wise. But we'll see...thanks!

Books & Comics / Re: The new Eagles Dan Dare

Right before I left England I bought a collection of Eagles (about 200, I think) at a market and now that I'm resettled and unpacked I've started reading them.

Up until now I've only read Hibernia's Doomlord reprints, but I have to say these are great fun! It's a fun way to get back into 'being a kid' much like rereading old progs is.

It's threads like this that just stoke the fire of his inanities, just ignore him.

You're exactly right.

And that's more than clear to me now that - scojo or not - he's been all over this thread, surveying the "carnage". I feel quite stupid, because I've given this fellow fuel to further annoy me (and he knows it, I'm sure) - and this thread gives him far too much of the attention he's obviously seeking.

I do find it very odd that despite the fact that I gave no indication of whom I was speaking, the suspected offender was the very first to respond - in his own defense, no less. Huh.

Thanks, Doombot. I'm in the mind to build my own site (because of the exact points you've made)...but really have no inkling how to do so. I suppose I'll need to cast about until I find a tech savvy fellow who digs the project enough to help out.

But really, 4,000 readers? I'd love to get that many people reading! Can you post the link to your site for me?

Right. I apologise (see, I even used an 's' instead of 'zed' to prove how sincere I am) to all for this thread. I've contributed positively to this forum for three years, have met many of you at conventions and have made many good friends via this forum. Many of you have been there for me when I've been down, so I regret bringing this negativity to a place I care for.

Though I won't post another word about this subject, I have to say that I strongly feel that - at the very least - this poster(s) is up to "no good". Have a look at the patterns if you have time (or feel like "wasting your life") and you'll see plenty like this:

Why keep on about it? I posted a comment about Frankenstein in "what are you reading" 1 comment. This guy gets reams of comments and know one knows if he is amongst on this forum or not. Who f#### cares?
Surely a discussion about Frankenstein, the first S.F. story ever written would be far more productive?

Passive aggressive "insults" with a dose of self-righteousness.

But again, apologies to all. I will not be bothered to respond to him (or them) again, and don't mind if this thread is locked or deleted.
