We are the dinosaurs to webcomics nimble little furry animals. As we watch the asteroid approach they're all on kickstarter or earning money off the back of millions of views and google adwords.
Now PJ's got me thinking about webcomics. I'm close to releasing the first issue of my comic, and planned to do so with a press run of 200 copies which I plan to give out for free to get word-of-mouth going - I also plan to make the issue available free via clickwheel, myebook, ect, ect, wherever I can host it for free for readers to read for free, ect.
Going forward, might it be best to start of a website, gain a following and eventually go a kickstarter route to fund print releases? Mind, I'm very much a traditionalist and will always have print copies available, but maybe only in runs of 100 or 200 - while a webcomic, obviously, has the potential to reach many, many more readers on a comparable budget.
But I'm that comics dinosaur PJ describes. And on top of that, I'm fairly computer illiterate. Any advice that any of you have for me - from finding a place to host the comic to figuring out how to get advertising on the site or even how to draw readers to it - would be greatly appreciated. Heck, if any of you wants to partner up on that front, I'd be appreciative and willing to work out some sort of agreement.
I have my team assembled (El Chivo on art droid duty, Bolt 01 on letters), have a first episode finished and several other scripts in production to keep the strip regular whether it goes forward in print form or webcomic or both (I think both).
Of course, I'd be remiss if I didn't pimp that project right now. Here are the links to El Bigote, a Gothic Mexican Horror Western Dark Comedy:

Cheers for taking the time to read, and thank you in advance for any advice you might give!
