Not chosen artists for every strip yet, Doombot. So no worries!

And...it's not the first time Mrs Tu has posted a script heavily inspired by Mr. Moore's work: http://forums.2000adonline.com/index.php/topic,34770.msg637776.html#msg637776.

Huh.

Going to give MrStu the benefit of the doubt here and assume he's inadvertantly dredged an existing future shock up from some darkened corner of his long term memory.

The problem is, even the dialogue is almost exact:

PLEASE, I'M SORRY. I THOUGHT I HAD MORE TIME! = OH NO! NOT YET! I'M NOT READY!

LADIES, KEEP THE EVIL SPACE TYRANT IN YOUR LIFE HAPPY WITH BARRY SLUGBUCKETS ALL NEW RANGE OF MICROWAVEABLE READY MEALS. = YES HOUSEWIVES YOU CAN KEEP THE SILICONE-BASED LIFEFORM IN YOUR LIFE HAPPY WITH.......PRESSURE COOKER.

Truth be told, I'm now leaning to Dr. X's original assessment - he's taking the piss. (which is weird, because he's been pitching scripts to all the small press mags on the forum)

What you needed 3 pages to achieve, Alan Moore could do in 2. That's my criticism.

I can only assume that Mrs Tu is a young lad and maybe didn't realize that this is silly. When I was round 10 or 11 I used to write Lovecraft stories that were dangerously close to being (okay, were) ripoffs. As Tordel said, it's good practice for a youngster...so I'm hoping that's the case.

However, we would like to include a 3 or 4 panel droid life-like horror-comedy/comedy-horror strip in each issue - anyone any ideas? (Scripts only please - this is something I want to draw :))

Strong characters. We need strong characters. Think about Droid Life - such a short strip but all those droids are unique and we have really gotten to know them. That's what we need! Now get writing!

BACKGROUND: In case anyone doesn't know, this "script" is a direct copy of an Alan Moore Futureshock.

Ooooh, you're right. I just reread the Alan Moore FutureShock last year and mrs tu's script is almost exact...

Sheesh, the short story contest is hanging on by a frayed thread these days, innit? There's got to be a way to a) get more writers writing (as if I should talk, I suppose) and b) get more voters voting. But then, we've been wondering about this for a couple of years now, haven't we?

_If_ it is the signature and the one one Abe isn't wildly optimistic it might be worth investing in a copy for a donor jacket :)

Also, crazy as it may seem, I've gone on ebay and found replacement dust jackets for older books I have that were either missing the jackets or the jackets were in disrepair. It may take some casting about, but if you're not in a hurry to cash in you may eventually find one.

I'm not sure why some names were gratuitously changed (Slag for Smaug, grablins for goblins, why?)

Grablins are the pervy evolutionary cousins of goblins, to be sure.

It's truly amazing how faithful to the source material it is:

Nevertheless, a fantastic find. Cheers for that.

I love the trippy animation, and Slag ( ::)) is a pretty cool monster!

Film & TV / Re: Favorite Movie Soundtracks...
09 January, 2012, 06:34:25 PM
Anyone know of any really creepy scores/soundtracks? I've exhausted mine...The Thing, The Beyond, The Blind Dead films, Bram Stoker's Dracula, stuff like that. Pretty much looking for something really dark.
