whatever happened to John Rambo? I hear he took english classes and discovered he didn't like the tone of this board. Now he browses msn personals, longing to find someone interested in UK comics,2000ad.

John Rambo is, cursed earth story.

I've merged a couple of those and moved a couple.

I've left the Life Sprugs/droks where they are as they're like 40 pages and a bit of a permenant fixture.

I left the suggestion one alone as it felt a bit like a suggestion of how to expand the character to start with, so it sits nicely where it is rather than any other discussion.

Feel free to post some more. Feels like we need more mods up ins.

If everyone agrees on this being the chat room of choice, is it possible to link it to main site and not just here?

That implies some kind of officiality, and will to maintain. We don't really want the responsibility of supporting an IRC chat room or a client, but I don't mind posting the channels details as a sticky somewhere in one of these subforums?

Anyone have any recommendations for that?

Whole bunch of stuff there which is on the todo list.

Our setup already uses the Barney data, heavily refactored into a more rigid database structure. The Barney data has an unfortunate issue where both "characters" and "series" are technically the same thing, with no way to effectively differentiate between the two.

I've tried some automated separation of characters and series, and we had the 2000ad guys attempt to mark up which are which, but theres still plenty of overlap and missing items.

These are just things that are going to need to be fixed as time goes on, extras added and some community input taken. We're still in the process of trying to convert all the Barney data into the new structure, and this is why we're missing Graphic Novels, Reprints, etc.

For all you non-savvy lazy types out there I've managed to hijack Mibbit.com's web IRC client.

Eh, just post a thread in this here forum and we'll get around to it then.
Really its just a case of getting out attention and the right message across, and us having time to deal with the request.

I don't think IRC is something that really needs integrating with the website, we could just sticky the details on the front page and I'm sure people can work it out from there (or with a helpful hint or two).

The way I understand it is you find an IRC Server, use an IRC client to connect to said server. Then you just use "/join #<roomname>" to create/join a channel, and once you've got enough people in one room you can apply for it to be a permenent fixture with its own resident bot.

Its been years since I used IRC, but it seems ideal.

To be honest it shouldn't require a thread and my intervention to get that kind of thing done. Don't we have moderators for that sort of task?

Whens the last time you guys saw some active moderation?

Is there any reason you guys don't just use IRC, considering the plethora of chat clients, standalone and web?

No problem, we get that in web a lot when someones cache fails to update they still see the old resources.

I guess it depends on your browser, but F5 should be refresh (check for any changed media on the page, download if it has changed), whereas Ctrl-F5 will force refresh the entire contents of the page, re-downloading everything regardless of change.

You mean this guy;

Cause thats totally what I'm seeing on your profile/posts. You might want to try a Ctrl-F5 to force a refesh of your page cache.

I've also changed the way avatars from external URLs work, so now they're brought onto the forum and hosted here rather than attempting to use the external hosting. That might help solve future issues.
