Not sure about this but it'd be hypocritical of me to wave the "How dare they remake one of my fave movies" flag when the film itself was a remake.

Slightly weird to think the time gap between the original and the Carpenter version is about the same as from his to this one.

Bottom line, it cant be any worse than the FUCKING HORRIBLE Fog remake, right?
Of course my big worry is that the films arctic setting will result in mary elizabeth winstead keeping wrapped up the entire movie  >:D

Help! / Re: Ambiance Program.

Just to once again wave my "sad apple fanboy" flag... I have a very cool Ambiance app called.. Ambiance.
Works well on the ipad if you want something to fall asleep to as you can put a timer on it

Seems to be a desktop version too. Not tried it though

Other than games mentioned in other threads I'm now sadly addicted to Flight Control HD on the ipad. Also found out MyBrute is free on there so I'm... well I was gonna say "playing that" but you dont really play MyBrute. You just watch it and wonder why the fuck you cant stop

LOVED this game!
Its what being a dumb bloke is all about. Over the top violence, total stupidity and abusive insults taken to almost poetic levels. Like you said, its the game Duke Nukem shoulda been. Worlds of fun!

It also has the biggest "HOLY FUCK" moment I've ever experienced in a game which I'm not gonna spoil but if you've played you know.

Yeah... I've gone a bit Steam mad! Got Left4Dead 1 & 2 as they were cheap, this as it was free and now downloading Team Fortress 2 as thats free as well... and 10gb  :/

Wanted to get the GTA4 pack which is that and the two add ons as its only about £6 but the disk space it wants is mental!

Anyway, yeah... limited character types, only half available but still decent. My guy is a sword monkey so I REALLY cleverly opted for flight as the transport power so now he can hover over bad guys and uselessly wave his katanas at them.

Character design was loads of fun. Game itself is very cool so far and there's loads of other people running around which is pretty cool too. Obviously I'm at the very early stages and its introducing me to all the customisation I can do while giving me some "go punch these guys" missions.  Always wondered how missions worked on big multiplayer games so its been interesting seeing the scripted bits steering me within a big area of other players. Even spent half hour last night flying around over the park watching other players do the mission I had previously done but with different powers.

Cant fault it at all so far. Other than the fact its probably going to eat up all my free time for the next week or so at least

Yeah, I enjoyed the casino story as it was a fun bit of action with a cool Oceans 11 feel.
The last one REALLY put me off though and just draaaaaaaged and these first few parts of the latest arc havent won me back over. You never know though, the last Dante arc made me do a full 180 on it

And yeah, far as I know Gav is on for a while at least. Know he'll definately be on as long as the Zombo arc runs. Hopefully as this will also cover the first few parts of the next big Dredd epic that'll hook him in as well

Get the feeling I'm gonna spend a few hours tonight blissfully happy while I design my guy... then play the actual game for 10 minutes

Either way, looking forward to it. Been told the problem with a lot of these games is low subscription but apparently since this one went free its exploded... big surprise I know

cheers for the info

Games / Champions Online
11 July, 2011, 09:18:22 AM
So I've NEVER played one of these MMORPG type games before. Never liked the idea of subscribing to play as I wouldnt want to find myself thinking "Well you've paid for it this month, you should get some more hours in"

Also I'm not overly sociable in my gaming... or generally really.

Any-hoo, a mate bought a Left4Dead bundle and gifted me a licence so while I was putting that on I saw Champions Online is now free. Literally free. Just go into Steam, download it and thats it. Apparently you can pay money for upgrades or additional character options but for casual monkeys like me I cant see my missing those.

Not played it yet, only finished downloading late last night, but definately going to be giving it a go. Hoping its on a par with Freedom Force. Even if its not it isnt costing me anything.

So anyone else played this or is thinking of? Any tips for an online game newbie? I genuinely dont have a clue how games like this work. Can I run around single player for a while and do lots on my own or do I need to find others straight away?

Oh... and before anyone says, yeah... looks like you can

I enjoyed it.

Only ever saw the first two episodes of Torchwood before and thought they were crap. Very much the OTT to Doctor Who's Tiswas... "LOOK! WE CAN BE RUDE! LETS DO THAT!". Wife stuck with it though and informs me series 2 and 3 were loads better.

Anyway, this worked for me as a relative newbie. Everyone slightly stereotypical epecially the Angry Black America Badass (tm) but still fun enough in an X-Files kinda way. Some nice gruesome bits, a decent chase scene and I always enjoy seeing Cardiff onscreen.

Bottom line, I'll be watching the second episode and didnt think I would

Film & TV / Re: X-Men: First Class - Final Trailer

Saw this today

Trailers did nothing for me but I REALLY enjoyed the film. Magneto coulda been slightly less OIRISH all the way through it, but otherwise no complaints at all. Very pleasantly surprised at how into it I was

As with all these films there are bits of logic you could pick holes at, but its a fun ride if you're willing to let a few bits slide. And thought it did a great job at the whole why Charles and Eric have different views on things and how the friends found themselves enemies. Hope we get a follow up

Oh my. For the first half of that trailer I really expected it to be a very different movie than the splatterfest it turns into. It looks like a Troma movie, remember them?!?? Must see.

Yeah, its a TOTAL Troma flick. Fun enough if you enjoyed Class of Nuke Em High etc, might be too weird for most though

Was cool to see the main guy from Lexx as the big bad
