Recently managed to blag a copy of an old Sci-Fi series i remember from when i was a teen, I remember really liking it (above all other genre series at the time which might of been Next Gen and possibly Babylon 5).  It was called Space : Above and Beyond, basic plot was the year 2080 something and humans have been spreading out slowly and colinising habitable planets very slowly, we've had no contact with any inteligent alien life and assume we are alone on the universe.  There's talk of an old AI war and they have Tank grown clones/artificial soldiers left over from these times, theres a racism thing happening with them and people call them Tanks as an insult these plot points seem to form a second level of plotting.  Of course Aliens arrive and just start attacking the human collonies and we have to fight, arses get kicked and its up to our bunch of main characters (including a surly rebelious Tank) fresh out of training (by the dude that was the drill instructer in Full MEtal Jacket) to save the day.  As I said its a bit shaky looking now and the pilots are also marines so they can save budget and have planet set episodes too but still holds up ok today.  Only watched the pilot and first episode so far and cant wait to watch the rest.

Anyone else have memories of this show?
What have you recently re-discovered or found for the first time Sci-Fi wise, was it as good as you remembered or a case of rose tinted lenses?

Scottish island, weird monster eating people up, scared them there living daylights out of me when I was younger. I can't rmembe rthe name of the TV series but it was based on a book called CHILD OF THE VODYANOI (or something - a russian sea devil).

If I watched it now, would I think it was any good?

(This'd be right up PVS' street. Wherefor art thou?)

I remember this scary stert disapointing end.  Watch out for the monsters false teeth

Dont care what any one else says about this one I say its a great improvement on the usual dross that gets sent over from the States.  Vile lead yes but he is supposed to be its about how he changes and grows.  Still dont take my word for it get off your asses and see it your selves.

PS

Its set up for a sequel.
