You know, I recently decided I'd start a kitty for the case files. I do this for my must have comics (Chew, Astonishing X-Men, Transformers) and I honestly don't know WHY it never occurred to me to tdo this for Dredd. I suspect it may have something to do with me being a bit daft.

BUT - on perusing Amazon for the first purchase, I notice that Case files 3 is going for RIDICULOUS money. Out of print, perchance?

I'd have thought there might be some wisdom in making sure as much of the case files volumes were in print as possible around the new movie's release date. They'd be BOUND to see a spike in sales, wouldn't they?

Does nobody want ABC Warriors in a cinema near them, this summer? Or next summer? or whenever?

Just don;t let Michael bay near it - [shudder].

I just had an awesome moment where I logged into the board, saw Dredd in the left hand sidebar, and went 'SQUEEE!!! HOW COOL IS IT THAT I'M GONNA SEE A MOVIE WITH THAT CHARACTER IN IT SOON!'

On reflection, I may have been better served by NOT doing that while having a cooked breakfast in my local cafe, surrounded by onlookers.

Ahem!

I'm STILL not interested in The Dark Knight Rises, to be blunt.

The running time seems way too long. I have a horrible feeling it's going to repeat all the mistakes Nolan made with The Dark Knight - which I STILL think is a rubbish movie, full of flab and angst.

BUT - the hype HAS made me pre-order the two new print editions of Knightfall that have been released so far. So some good comes out of it for me, at least!

I truly hope the movie lives up to expectations for those eagerly awaiting it.

Judge Blake:

Very balanced summary of opinions there. Much the same as I thought.

Wholeheartedly agree! The case-files are too good a format to be ditched! And i say that as someone who only just started buying them up in force.

Courtship of Jena is now so rare that it doesn't even turn up on websites.
Hurry up and reprint.

Doing a daily Amazon check as part of my morning internet routine led me to an ex-library copy with one slightly ripped page (intact and fully readable though), for £10.  Now have the complete collection.

I'll repeat my call for Nikolai Dante Case-files style volumes. I would buy the CRAP out of those if they appeared!

I need to nab this pronto.

I've blown a bit hot and cold with the previous releases of the new Stront stuff - no reflection on the quality of it, mind you - it's just been a case of me reading it and thinking 'it seemed much cooler when I was a kid'.

But th etime's definitely right for me to go back and re-read the whole lot in earnest.

My copy of 'Transformers: More Than Meets The Eye - volume 1' arrived in the post today.

Now, you may sniff. But this is a BLOODY good comic. Bags of character and energy to it. There's a neat lien of sci-fi, humour and action in this. Very much worthy of a peep if any of you guys are even remotely curious.

Can't imgaine it being a Blu-Ray only deal, but you never know  :-[

I'd hope the fact there's been no official word on the DVD's content is just an oversight. Especially as DVD looks set to be around for a good while yet. But nothing surprises me in the home video market.

I think a Director's Cut of Prometheus would also be very enjoyable, so hopefully that'll happen.

Yup - apparently it will be 20 minutes or so longer on Blu-ray.

Ominously, the comment about the extended cut appears to have only been applied to discussion of the blu-ray. I'd assume it'll be on the DVD as well, but that hasn't yet been confirmed as far as I can see.

Interesting to see the two cotumes side by side.

I do think a lot of the LOOK of the '95 movie was really good, although that costume certainly isn't easy to take.

The new uniform design, I think, is pretty damned cool. I'd prefer it if we could have seen some effort made to accent the notable features of the comic book design - more comic-accurate shoulder pads, knee and elbow pads - but considering the visual direction of this new movie, I think it works really well.

Stallone's codpiece looks siller and sillier with every passing year.

I think he might shed a little tear over that. Unless he is the one who sneaked it in, I suppose ;)
I feel like shedding a tear over that meself: that is sublime.

SO pleased that the man Michael gets this shout-out. He thoroughly deserves it.

The casting of Anderson's has been possibly one of the key elements of the movie I was hoping they'd get right.

I can live with my misgivings over the look of the Lawmaster and MC 1, but they HAD to get Anderson right.

I think they did. Thirlby seems like a great choice.

Eh?

Fair play - looking back over that lst post of mine, it WAS typo-tastic! What on earth is 'Teh Kucky Winner'? Sounds like an aggressive brand of moonshine to me... But I digress!

We'll make an announcement when a winner is chosen. Please don't hold your breath, we got a lot of entries and Tharg can only read so many in a day.

Heh! No need to worry, good sir. We're just naturally curious to know as and when.

One way or another, this has already been lots of fun!
