Back from me hols, glad to see you're all busy plotting your stories... (ahem)...

Am guessing that Messrs Van Dom, Of Death and M. will at least be working on their creations. As will I (honest). It's the girl in the white socks that gets me...

Now that was surprisingly dignified, Mr Meanie.... Are you quite well??
#273
(I am absolutely terrified of what Blue Meanie is going to make of Picture A....)

Way back when, we had a Limerick Competition. And it was won by two of our finest: Van Dom and Greg M. Which means that they got to decide what the next Story Comp theme would be. Which means that they are entirely responsible for what follows. All I shall say is maximum 500 words, and closing date Sunday 15th April.

Your challenge, should you chose to accept it, is to choose one (or more if you so desire) of the pictures below and use THAT as your source of inspiration for a story. That's it.

Of course, the stories must be set in one of the myriad 2000AD universes, featuring 2000AD characters as per usual, but other than that, the sky's the limit. You can adopt any theme that takes your fancy, but the story must be clearly inspired by the picture(s) you have chosen. You should state at the start (or end) of your story which picture - A, B C, or D - your story is based on.

So have a look at the weird pictures, get those little grey cells working, and tell us a "Surreal Crazy Story, Man!"

Thanks for the bump!!

If anyone wants to know more, have a read at www.disconnectedpress.co.uk.

Here you go:

1. MIK - because the Dirty Frank is perfect
2. Blue Meanie and Uncle Fester - proof if ever it was needed that writing and arting are very different things...
3. IATS - for the amazing contorted posture thing

I guess we asked a lot of you all, and in a short amount of time too, so my HM goes to Everyone That Entered.

Will keep it simpler next time :-)

Aah, glad to see the juices are flowing (so to speak).

Bluemeanie: I've seen the first draft of Uncle Fester's script for you to draw. I think it's revenge for all those crowd shots in Dark Judgement 2....

Hi conceptboy - apologies but we're fully loaded now. I'll let you know if there are future opps of doing something together though :-)
#279
Congrats to our winners and, perhaps in the spirit of Creativaganza collaboration, you can decide together on a theme for the next comp. Note that we'll be launching the next one at the start of March: the Creativaganza is the only show in town for February.

In joint first place (yes, it's a tie), two stalwarts of the Story Comp:

Greg M. and Van Dom

Here's Greg M's saucy offering:

There once was a Dark Judge called Fear,
Of habit decidedly queer,
His visage was grim,
So his chances were slim,
Unless he approached from the rear.

And here's Van Dom's charming entry:

There was a big bastard called Slaine,
Whose libido was warped and insane,
One day on the job,
With his nob in Niamh's gob,
He spasmed and blew out her brain.

Yep. That's right. Nobody came second.....

While you're figuring out what that means, I should say that Honourable Mentions go to the following: A Cow, Adrian Bamforth, Alski, Douglas Wolk (ORANGES!), Judgefett, Pete Wells and ME.

Extra special congrats in the Mentions section to M.I.K. who accumulated the most votes across all his entries and who gave us the amazing Shakara limerick (http://forums.2000adonline.com/index.php/topic,35261.msg649219.html#msg649219).

But without further ado, I can announce.....
#282
In second place:

NOBODY

#283
In third place, with some of the finest polysyllabic rhyming we saw, it's:

M.I.K.

There once was a robot called Gideon,
Whose eyes were of darkest obsidian.
He came from The Edge,
To fight the undead,
And lay waste to large swathes of Londinium.

Phew. If I never see a five line poem with an AABBA rhyming scheme again, it will be too soon.

Here we go with the results of the quite astoundingly busy 2000AD Forum Limerick Competition. You definitely all rose to the occasion: we had almost 80 entries so thanks to all that submitted and extra thanks to those that read them again and casted a vote.

So, here we go:

Thanks, chaps. The great count-up will begin shortly. In the meantime, have a crack at the Creativaganza 35th Birthday Tribute Comp.....
