A beautiful page to behold!!

Made me smile almost as much as Emp's comment that this will still be happening 'this time next year' - whoo hoo!! I expect the hardcopy first volume in the stores by Christmas though :-)

If you needed any clearer sign of where this is being aimed at one of the features being promoted on the cover is "Hot Mums".  ::)

Wow! Didn't realise Roger got a commission....

Quote from: Peter Wolf on 25 August, 2010, 05:21:09 PMIf Mark Millar has gone to the effort of getting the magazine/comic together WHY make it look exactly the same as trash like FHM - NUTS - HEAT - ZOO etc etc ??

Because the audience he is pitching it to is somewhere between SFX and lad's mags.

Exactomundo... they have said from the start that this is aimed at the 16-25 year old, heavy fisted man (I paraphrase); expect covers from now on to feature supercharged boobs and the content to be weapons and booty based. Oh dear, I just increased circulation didn't I.....?

Still, I shall admit that it has high production values (ie, nice colours) and that I hope it creates demand for comic books so that those whose work I'm more interested in reading get their shot on the shelves.

Oh, and Frankie Boyle, there's no excuse. SHAVE, you lazy man, SHAVE.

Gaa ga goo goo.... and other appropriately babyish sounds...

1. Shark Number 1 for the inimitable flange. Saucy!

2. Mark Taylor for Mr Judge

3. Ooh, tricky, 3 possiblities here (too hot, too cold and just right?) Let's go for Van Dom 1 because it must have taken bloody ages....

Hon Mensh to Dr X, for sheer skullduggery and behind the scenes coordination of those strange artist types. How you got that many of them working to deadline, I'll never know! :-)

But now I've only got one story and I'm sure I wrote two....

Didn't I?

As a chemist I feel I should point out that Amedeo Avogadro was born in August 1776.

There's an uncanny amount of As in that last sender / message combo. More fodder for the conspiracy horses??

My detailed research into 1776 (thank you, ever-reliable Wikipedia) has identified the following:

- As we all know, 1776 was the birth year of the US of A

- Gibbon's Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire was published - a great history of how powerful nations are born and how they can end

- 1776 was also the year that Adam Smith's Wealth of Nations was published - seminal book from man who 'invented' free market economics

- The Order of the Illuminati was formed

Now, if Peter Wolf can't come up with a theory from that menu of options, there's definitely something amiss in the world.

Congrats on your profligacy, LoD!

Jim likes Dancing Queen by Abba. It's his favourite song, ever, in the whole wide world.

Hey, if he's not reading this, then we can share all sorts of *facts* about him. For example:

Jim used to hold the British record for juggling pickled eggs - seven of them at one time!

It was trying to find the correlation between football jerseys and nepalese princesses or 15 year old picassos that confused me!

I think it might have been our friend the Emperor pulling together the next set of plot lines for Fractal Fiction.....  :D

Shhhhhh no spoilers ;)

Maybe that's the next variation of Fractal Fiction - instead of you coming up with wilder and more amazing things for artists to draw, a bunch of artists send you random concepts and ask you make a script.....

I see Fester has been talking too freely about my Creative Process, time to activate the nano-nuke in his brain - I'd recommend leaving the room for a moment.

I don't know much about nano-nukes, but the burst of radiation seems to have made him tremendously productive. He's like Drawing Hulk! Unstoppable! (30-something pages in 40-something days - he's the pencil monkey version of Eddie Izzard running marathons....)

Ooh, not only can Mr Pegg draw but he comes up with a cracking theme!

In fact, whoever wins this month's Story Competition would do well to nick the idea...!

My personal tribute to the Great and Legendary Mr Campbell: Five More Reasons Why Opinions Are Like Arseholes:

1. Everyone's got one and assumes it's OK but never really checks to make sure.

2. If someone tries to scrutinise yours, it'll tighten up.

3. It's embarrassing to admit that there might be something wrong with yours.

4. And sometimes we just can't keep them under control....

5. And, of course, the last thing you want is Big Hairy Demi-Goth taking an interest in yours.

Happy sailing, Cap'n Jim. Hope to see you for Beer In Birmingham.
