Remember that Democracy is no good without a written Constitution/Bill of rights based on the rule of Law/Common Law/Natural Law.

I advocate the US as an example of that which hasnt ever been improved upon as it protects the rights of minorities/individuals and which restricts the size and influence of central Govt by constraints and which allows seperate states/regions a certain amount of autonomy.

It provides a system of checks and balances that prevents one sector of the public from imposing their will onto other members of society which is what usually happens in a Democracy where the emphasis is placed on the majority[mob rule] and popular elected govt while the minority suffers.

For example in the US you have the right to own firearms but if you dont agree with that then you have the right not to own firearms.

If you dont believe in free speech then outside of the normal parameters of free speech you have the right not to speak your mind and censor yourself.[Free speech is a tricky one as its not always an absolute in certain instances]

If you object to others religious pratices for example then you have the right to not participate in or share the same religion.

If you object to a public political protest for example then you have the right not to attend the protest but yourself or anyone else does not have the right to deny others the right to protest in public.

If you object to the right to defend your home and property with force from criminals for example then you have the right not to defend your home and property with force from criminals.

And so on.........

Its all about stopping one sector of people imposing/enforcing their ideas and views onto others by force of will  as everyones rights are protected as you have the choice while you still have the right to object but not enforce.

The more important question is what will we do to organise our own 'alternatives' now the politicos are irrelevant?

Think of alternatives and start doing it.For example the Federal Govt in the US is forbidding anyone from selling raw milk and growing organic vegetables so the solution to that problem is to fuck them off and start selling or continue selling raw milk and organic vegetables and if everyone does this then the Federal Govt will be unable to enforce its legislation.

The criminal system relies on your consent to stay in power and the present criminal system will try its hardest to prevent the alternatives and it will only succeed if everyone allows it to as the system wouldnt be able to cope with any large scale civil disobedience.

People who were and are sick of the mainstream media create the alternative media and contribute to it as an alternative.People are sick of mainstream media journalists so they decided to be their own journalists and write their own articles.

I started playing this game for the first time last night and although i didnt play for very long[only as far as the second checkpoint] my first impressions of it are very very good. The graphics are very very good and create the right atmosphere and it really is edge of the seat stuff in terms of not knowing what is round the corner and far more so than my experience of a lot of other games.I cant comment on the script very much yet as i havent completed the game but it seems good so far.........

Games are like films in the sense that you can tell if the game is going to be any good after the first 5 or 10 minutes or so.

Good job Rebellion

This is no different to any other situation where an uneducated mass of people who are fed propaganda during wartime and celebrating a defeat of their enemy which by default involves killing/murdering/call it what you like.

The fact this announcement is being celebrated means that further overseas wars and occupations/"Humanitarian" missions will be supported particularly as there is more on the menu in North Africa and the Middle East and elsewhere.Wether or not the celebrating is distasteful or justified its only a superficial celebration as all there is to celebrate is more of what we have had for the last 10 years so there is really nothing to celebrate in the long term.

The announcement and media spectacle is pure Jingoism and it will exasapate the situation regarding Muslim Extremism so it was highly irresponsible/stupid if taken at face value but i dont take things at face value very much.

Obama will very shortly announce that Emmanuel Goldstein has been killed by SpecOps in a dawn raid.

Has anyone else noticed that the scene of the alleged incident [Abbotabad] is 800miles + from the nearest coast and at the same time we are told that Bin Laden was buried at sea yet we are told by official  sources that the body was moved to Afghanistan/Baghram Air base 230 miles away where it was subjected to various formalities[DNA testing usually takes weeks/months but Baghram air base must have been equipped with the facilities to conduct thorough and extensive DNA testing in an hour or two] and then flown a minimum of 800 miles to the coast[an undisclosed location as no details on this have been provided from official sources] where it was presumably loaded onto a ship out at sea and all within 12 hrs of the alleged assault happening. That is remarkable in itself :-\

Dont believe the hype.

I think its just PR to legitimise 10 years of "War On Terror" expenditure and loss of life and to increase the popularity of a failing POTUS and adminstration before the next election as it was/is proving to be very unpopular plus Bin Laden was becoming increasingly irrelevent in the scheme of things partly due to people becoming very sceptical of it all and openly questioning the existence of Bin Laden and also the open derision that followed the various Bin Laden tapes presented by intelligence agencies and govt. This is an official closure on the existence and whereabouts of Bin Laden.Besides info has been filtering from intelligence agencies that Bin Laden has been dead for years.

The Obama announcement was just more "War On Terror" propaganda and Obama and the Obama adminstration will now celebrate itself along with the attendent MSM propaganda feeding frenzy where various pundits will be wheeled out to re-enforce the official line and its implications.

Thats the way i see it.

Also the reports of Bin Laden being buried at sea are very curious.Another thing that is very curious is that a week or so ago the Pakistani govt kicked out the US form an airbase on its soil that was used by the US to launch drone attacks so where this goes now regarding Pakistan will be interesting because Pakistan will be accused of harboring  terrorists more than it is already.

Wouldn't it be great if Al-Qaeda reacted like the Wicked Witch's henchmen at the end of The Wizard of Oz and threw down down their arms after their oppressive leader has copped it?

Very unlikely as it will likely result in retaliation on their part or what will appear to be retaliation [attacks on US soil and military bases etc] to extend the whole thing for another few years at the very least..........

They've all ready buried him?

QuoteOfficial: Bin Laden buried at sea
(AP) – 2 hours ago
WASHINGTON (AP) — A U.S. official says Osama bin Laden has been buried at sea.
After bin Laden was killed in a raid by U.S. forces in Pakistan, senior administration officials said the body would be handled according to Islamic practice and tradition. That practice calls for the body to be buried within 24 hours, the official said. Finding a country willing to accept the remains of the world's most wanted terrorist would have been difficult, the official said. So the U.S. decided to bury him at sea.
The official, who spoke Monday on condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive national security matters, did not immediately say where that occurred.

The good thing about this is there won't be a shrine to his grave had there been a land based resting place.

Its very interesting how the US doesnt ever extend the same courtesy to all of the other Muslims who have died at their hands and in any case they could just as easily have just dug a hole in the desert as an unmarked grave for Bin Laden if there is any truth in this at all.

Quote from: strontium71 on 02 May, 2011, 11:39:11 AM
I agree - but I think the US is being overly sensitive on this one , don't want to inflame the situation even more.

They must be having a day off from that then.

It's not our illustrious prog we should be scrutinising it's children's shows like Scooby Doo.
Watching Scooby Doo and the Loch Ness Monster with Robbie this morning there was a point after the monster had chased down Shaggy and Scooby and they where babbling, then this local chick piped up and said "And I thought we Scottish talked funny". This is one of the modern ones not one of the oldies.
I am not Scottish so cant speak on your behalf but I am sure none of you think you talk funny.

As long as you enjoyed yourselves then thats the main thing  :D

I received my complimentary Fortnum and Mason hamper on the big day so i was able to enjoy a selection of fine cheeses and preserves and biscuits and a whole side of wild smoked salmon plus assorted champagnes and liqueors while celebrating so i am not really complaining  ;)

While there is inefficiency and waste within the NHS as its inevitable as its a Bereaucracy that is subject to all of the usual foibles of people particularly in the upper levels of management and that kind of thing it has over the last couple of decades become something of a whipping post used by politicians whenever they want to talk about saving taxpayers money and "expenditure" and that type of thing so it gets far more attention and focus than is really warranted in that respect while at the same time the taxpayers cash that is wasted and flushed away through overseas Globalist military occupations/wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and now Libya which alone is estimated at costing the UK taxpayer £750,000,000 + per month [with no exit strategy while offering little or nothing in terms of value that benefits the UK taxpayer] plus another £70,000,000 spent on a royal wedding spectacle being just 2 examples and thats not going into bailouts and EU payments from the UK.

These things are either promoted as being money well spent or are conveniently swept under the rug.

Quote from: Old Tankie on 29 April, 2011, 02:40:09 PMQuite often I found that "proper" nurses were "too posh to wash"!

Up to a point, you have to bear in mind that nursing has changed, and many aspects of what is seen as traditional nursing have been passed on to less qualified, cheaper staff. "Too posh to wash" can translate to "more appropriate use of resources".

It's been happening all over the NHS for years and there's going to be more of it - in the labs, medical laboratory assistants are taking on more parts of the work traditionally done by Biomedical Scientists, and Biodmedical Scientists are starting to take on some parts of the work traditionally done by consultants. For those of you wanting more private sector efficiency and organisation, and sharper, better use of available resources and skills, then here it is.

Regards

Robin

So as a result of that you now the kind of examples cited by @RL above which are effeciency drives that are partly done by politicians balancing budgets to please the public who want to see cuts or are told that cuts are "necessary" to "streamline" the NHS to reduce the public debt and "expenditure" and the upshot of all of that and all of the overseas miltary excursions and all of govt waste is that patients and staff of the NHS all suffer in the long term and short term. The worst kind of costcutting i can think of.

Its a miracle in this day and age that the NHS ticks along as well as it does when its under stress and attack the whole time.

The UK govt really do see the NHS as a problem that they would willingly hand over to the private sector wholesale anytime if they thought that they would get away with it.

Apologies. I see the error of my ways now.

Let all heretics be drowned in a sea of creamy dairy righteousness!

One down - 6 billion or so to go........

All i need to do now is create a website with books and videos plus a short film to promote it plus a Youtube channel.

[elsewhere very recently i read a comment by someone who was trying to promote their conspiracy website that was claiming the Japanese earthquake was photoshopped !!! and they were being serious  which was very funny despite it being a complete insult to those that were caught up in it]

I predict the Cow will jump over the Moon on 21/12/12.

That's bull

Those who disbelieve the prediction have not awakened to the next plane of vibrational frequencies and cosmic channelled messages that would allow them to see through their present vibrational spiritual prison that they recognise as reality within their relatively narrow field of experiences.Earthquakes and tidal waves and plague and spiral reverse polar polarity shifts will serve as warnings to those who mock this important message.

If you are not vibrationally re-aligned you will not be able to witness this important event. Also you will not be able to witness the orange planet NibuBooBooburu enter our solar system where it will transversely orbit the Sun for a limited time before continuing its 750,000,000 yr planetary shift.

Shortly i will provide a link to my Facebook page where all are welcome......

[I generally lurk these days and avoid getting involved in these kinds of threads  but i couldnt resist this.I have been drinking as well :ssh:]

Its all gibbering nonsense.

Bendandi *didnt* predict a precise date and location so the May 11th date originated somewhere on the internet and spread from there because like i said a while back people have a psychological need to fixate on disaster and end of the world scenarios that are spread by various fraudulent individuals and sources not to mention people of average/below average intelligence levels.

More BS about Planet X as well which as far as i know has no basis in fact as since its arrival into our solar system is due in 2012 this must mean that it must be visible by now yet mysteriously there is NOT ONE piece of convincing/verifiable visual evidence for it whatsoever available anywhere yet there are plenty of independent astronomers who would be aware of it by now and would be able to photograph it yet you go and do a websearch for Planet X/Niburu and all you will find are various suspect prophetic/NewAge websites about it that are very interested in selling you books and videos.Do an image search for Planet X/Niburu and all you get are hypothetical mock ups and photos that feature the Sun and lens flare.

Its a Cult.

People have the right to believe in whatever hogwash they like but what annoys me is how they never seem to be bothered about anything real and meaningful that is affecting their lives on Earth so it must be a psychological condition/defect.

However there might be something of substance in the theory that a planetary body coming very close to Earth at speed that could affect the earths crust through gravitational forces that are abnormal or stronger than usual and as far as i know this theory has not been debunked as you would have to disprove known and proven physics to debunk it.Further to that Piers Corbyn of WeatherAction who is an Astrophysicist amongst other things who is a very credible source attributes the Japan earthquake to the close proximity of the Moon to Earth at that point in time so Bendandi was not likely to be a fraud on that basis or at least partly right as he claimed that gravitational forces are responsible but disregards the effect of the Sun and the Moon while claiming that they do have an effect depending on their position.*

The moon exerts a gravitational force on Earth as in tides etc so that much is inarguable.

There is not much else to know about Bendandi as after reading various articles all i find are the same cut and pasted text that talks about what was written on scraps of paper so its all postulation based on virtually nothing.

*Thats going by the poorly worded/translated Wikipedia page which contradicts itself.

"Regarding 2011 we already know the place Japan."*

Yes but you didnt know before it happened so lets just attribute it to 2011 because it fits the theory. So going by that the predicted major earthquake of 2011 predicted by Bendandi turns out to be in Japan as quoted from the BS website* then why the fixation on Rome on May 11th ??

No one it seems can provide a satisfactory expanation for this prediction mostly because you cant explain BS.

Therein lies the inherent problem with predictions that are based on nothing and if anyone wants to make predictions then they should make damned sure they know and understand what they are basing the predictions on if they want to be anywhere near right.

"Raffaele Bendandi, an important astronomer, seismologer and scientist, on May 11, 2011 provide that Rome will be shaken by an earthquake so powerful that the entire city will be shaved off the face of the earth."

People who write that kind of crap firstly need to learn to write in correct English instead of gibberish and secondly they need to stop ass-uming that everyone else is as stupid as they are.

I predict the Cow will jump over the Moon on 21/12/12.I dont know why i know this but i am predicting it anyway.

Good on you, Peter. Blessed are the peacemakers and all that.

Perhaps if i could make some peace and quiet it would help.At present there has only been a minor decrease in the general noise levels. The problem is its all about them and fuck everyone else and i am going to make certain their tenancy which expires on the 26 June is not going to be renewed [already done] as i am sick of it already because its all well and good making peace and being nice but this is never going to work so in the meantime i am exercising a great deal of self control and tolerance.

Unless they are prepared to not take the piss then i have no choice but to use force if necessary as force is usually more productive because if i exercise leniancy then it all goes back to square one like right now and its fucking pissing me off big time.

If they cant live normally like everyone else that has lived here then they are out.

End of.

Just had a look on the hire firms website and they do a 12 seater, which looks fast. I shall pop into their place soon and check it out, just in case!
The drive up is no problem as we don't have to rush, it's the return, as I have to get the vehicle back before I get shafted for another days hire!

We did talk last time about spending an extra day or two in Inverness as there wasnt really any time time to explore Inverness last time as it was a big rush to get back but an extra day or two would mean more expense and time off work or whatever which may not suit everyone but personally i would be into it.

That filled up very quickly and that will lead to disappointment for some unfortunately and i feel a bit bad about that.

Do the 9 seats include the 2 passenger seats in the front of the van ?

God knows what the price of petrol is going to be by then but err on the side of it could cost a F of a lot more than it does now for various reasons.

I have been having big serious problems with my new neighbours who have been rather boisterous and noisy and a nuisance to say the least and this morning in the early hours i finally snapped and had a go at them which very nearly resulted in a scuffle. However we all reflected on this today as i was going to go round to see them to see if we could sort things out peacefully as i thought that the whole thing was stupid but instead they called round here so we talked things through and apologised to each other and made friends so it seems it can be all worked out instead of any more unpleasentness as we can agree on terms as to when its alright to make noise and when it isnt and that kind of thing.

There has to be a compromise on noise late at night for the sake of my neighbour on the other side who goes to bed quite earlyish as she gets up for work at 7 am.

They are Africans so i told them i am African by birth [which is true] which helped quite a bit.

It just goes to show that working things out peacefully is far more productive than fighting plus there is enough of that going on as it is.

I wanted to share/offload this as i am very happy  about it and there wasnt anywhere else to post it as the only other place i post comments is an alternative media comments section that is political in nature so posting this kind of thing there would have been inappropriate.
