"I know many stories and legends about the Nemesis, child, for I am very old and very wise.  But perhaps the most famous is the story of Olric's Great Quest!"

Genius in every line, every panel a minor masterpiece; witness the insane geometry of Kevin O'Neill in the legendary tale of a simple varkherd named Olric... Nemesis the Warlock: The Sword Sinister, from the 1981 2000AD Sci-Fi Special.

I've been mesmerised by this story since I first read it as a kid and it's hard to believe that an original page from this now sits in front of me.  The final reveal of Nemesis - only hinted at before, with glimpses of his Blitzspear in Terror Tube and Killer Watt - was a huge event for me.  It would be a couple more months before Nemesis made his debut proper in the Prog but I was already hooked; Pat Mills' writing combined with Kev O'Neill's incredible art definitely made its mark on my still-forming brain.  There's a lot of old-school 2000AD stories and art that I love but this is pretty much top of the heap.

Those are great - especially the Execution of Duty cover... Awesome.

I have something new as well but I'm still getting my head around it.

Followed-up with a flooring-focused double-tap.  Quality!
"You'll be on the carpet for this!" - Love it!

And that the Judge in question is named Wilton.

Ah, that's the stuff that makes this thread shine so bright...  Love it!

I've done the front legs (twice) and am now approaching something I can bear looking at.  I had a plan early on and it all worked in my head but then reality kicked in and scales don't match so compromise is inevitable.  Still, getting there.  A fun challenge and one that makes me wonder about some other possibilities a bit.

Love these polls. It would be a bit clearer though to either say: 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 1 point, 2 points, 3 points, otherwise it's a bit ambiguous isn't it? *ducks for cover in case it's actually obvious to everyone else*

I did wonder about that after I just listed 1-2-3; I meant these as the ranks rather than the points and I guess most people intend the same?

1 - Brink
2 - Fiends
3 - Grey Area

Brink has been a massive favourite of mine since it started and continues to hit all the right notes; wonderful storytelling featuring some astonishingly beautiful art.

Fiends... My initial misgivings about a revisit to the world of Constanta & Co. were happily misplaced and I loved this to bits (I wasn't a massive fan of the Stalingrad outing).  Different enough but familiar at the same time and Dave Taylor's art has been bloody marvelous!

For 3rd place in a strong year I opted for Grey Area mainly since, for me, it's developed really, really well lately - interesting characters with lots of detail in plot and art (as well as sufficient humour) means it's another great 2000AD world to get lost in.

Lawson's braid is lego genius!

Thanks, DDD!  The braid was the main focus when I started Lawson; I knew if I got that right (or half-way acceptable) the rest would be easy.  There's usually one feature that I feel I need to get right if there's any hope for the character to work and it's a nice brain-straining excercise to figure out stuff like this.

Meanwhile, work on the CATT progresses - probably about half way done now I think - and the boys have been making suggestions for what I should do next (a few options; some easy-ish, some definitely not).

Up to this point I've avoided being a cheeky git and copying these. Lego Metta Lawson and Kill-a-Man-Jaroo may well have just broken me... I'm sorry for steeling... well assuming I get of my lazy arse to do so...

I'd be delighted if you want to take a crack at any of these, Colin! (The same goes for anyone else.)  I can supply a Stud.io file and / or parts list and also have a crack at providing a set of instructions, so just let me know if you want anything.  The easiest way to make the dream a reality is to get the parts required through Bricklink (that's what I do anyway: Stud.io design > Bricklink parts list > order through sellers via there).

Anyway, I'll continue with the CATT but it's going to take a while...

Getting my ducks in a row for the next Christmas Prog (or just making bad use of some downtime over Christmas).

First there was Metta Lawson*...

...who was joined by Kill-a-Man-Jaroo...

...and then (at the urging of Phil Winslade), I've started on the CATT.  Looking at the design I was about to write it off before even starting but now I've managed this bit I guess I'll continue, although I doubt this one will reach physical build stage.  I considered trying for a fully-rounded CATT but that's next to impossible in Lego so I've gone with a more angular approach, which fits well with the figures I think.

I've started on another character as well (not Lawless-related) but we'll see how that goes.  The boys have made a few suggestions for others to try out so it looks like I'm not hanging up my bricks just yet.

:)

* chain to be added when I do the actual build.  Might change Jaroo's goggles as well but this was a decent start, I thought.

Love Nem-ices, Torque-made-a-snow and Ice Trucking Cold!

If only I'd thought of those polar puns it'd be you lot groaning and shaking your heads in disbelief instead of me.  I tip my tam o' shanter to you, Tordels.

I wasn't sure whether to include the Ace-among-the-trees version or the one below but the boys voted so I went with their selection (I know my place).

It's always a pleasure to see the 2K forum advent unfold - some fantastic efforts so far!

One dialogue, one monologue; both of these were burned into my brain, along with the Cam Kennedy artwork, from the moment I read them:

TTTT: Very sorry to put you to all this trouble.
Droid: Don't worry about it, fatso.
Droid: Lot worse ways to spend the days than shiftin' blubber.

Internal monologue but still one of my favourites:

Flip: I walked right into that one.  Three slugs in me, and all for a routine bone job.  I knew it was gonna be a bad day.  But it wasn't just the day.  Somethin' else was bad - the WHOLE JOB!  Louie had been waiting for me - waiting to give me the BIG SLEEP.  Why?  How did he know I was coming?  WHO'D tipped him off? I was dying.  I knew it. But before I went I was going to get some answers.
Next Prog: Herry Kerry!
