By that logic Thor would be called Bruce Hammer.
Bruce Hammer is actually quite a cool name.

I'll suggest Bruce Hammer to him later - a surefire win.

It all started after I was asked what The Hulk's real name was; that led to Batman and then, once he'd established that the majority of superheroes are called Bruce something-or-other, he just ran with it.  Very fast, like Bruce Lightning.

Tangentially, how would you rate the average man in the street's superhero knowledge? Let's say Pointless did a round on secret identities (they say the hero, you say the name)...

My youngest (four) instinctively knows ALL the important secret identities and has done for some time...

The Hulk: Bruce Banner
Batman: Bruce Bat
The Flash: Bruce Lightning
etc.

He rechristened Spider-Man as he preferred the moniker Spider-Spike, real name Peter Spiderweb.  I see great things for this youngling of ours.

1977      IPC
1987      IPC > Fleetway
1991      Fleetway > Egmont
2000      Egmont > Rebellion

I think.

in 1991 2000ad was not published by Rebellion. It was published by IPC I think. Then it changed to Maxwell group. Then Egmont Fleetway in about 94 then Rebellion in 2000. . . . this is all from half remembered memory and I am probably wrong. But it certainly not Rebellion.

I suspected as much but I have no particular grasp on the dates of the changeovers, really.  Anyway, a swipe's a swipe!

:)

EDIT: having just checked, Rebellion took over in 2000, which makes sense...

Were they bring published by the same company at the time, though?

Nope.  In March 1991, 2000AD was being published by Rebellion while IPC was responsible for the Eagle.  At least according to Comic Vine.

Is that a Simon Jacobs cover?

Alan Burrows, apparently.

Quote from: JamesC on 08 February, 2015, 05:34:41 PMHow about 'They Still Call Me Bruce'?
It's a sort of teen comedy/martial arts film in which a bullied kid is trained to fight by the ghost of Bruce Lee.

And a sequel... The inevitable follow-up to 'They Call Me Bruce'

I loved that as a kid...

Its a point that seems to get lost in all the admiration of your wonderful Lego work bit really how lovely and spotlessly shiny is your floor in ever photo!

I know housekeeping is a minor thing in the face of such glorious nerdery but really well done sir.

With the boys rolling around all over it the shiny floor takes care of itself, pretty much.  The last three pics actually feature the kitchen workbench, the in-laws' dining table and our Lego table, respectively.  I know you need to know these things!

:)

There's a 2000AD cover recreation to be attempted in the next couple of days... Not sure how well it'll work but we'll give it a whirl.

Possibly the first in a short series, holiday-postcard style?

This years Billy Bunter Block outing to the Cursed Earth did not go well for all those involved...

:)

We might attempt a Helltrekkers scene at some point, perhaps.

Quote from: Jim_Campbell on 06 February, 2015, 12:24:11 PMIt's more than I'd spend on original art (my limit normally being £0.00) but I'd hang this on the wall of any gallery in the land:

...preferably one with very poor security so I could pop in and borrow it.

Congrats, Mick!  A stunning page and I'm really happy you managed to pick this up.  As you say, we don't see much Nemesis from this era kicking about, and this page is a cracker.

:)

I'm going off to stare at my cover now... I still can't believe I have that.

Photo 2 shows your jetpack in your shadow. Busted!

Dammit.  Remind me to Photoshop that out next time.

...I decided to walk into work the long way round this morning; three and a half hours with snowshoes over the mountains then back down into town.  Didn't see a soul until I was nearly done; glorious.  Man, I needed that.
