18 October, 2007, 11:27:53 PM
Does anyone have, know how to get, know someone who knows someone etc- any way of gettin a good run of this (I mean the Moore/Leach/Davis run in particular)? Any photo copied and filed versions doing the rounds? Just curious. Ive been having a butchers at my few Warrior comics and read an old Alan Davis interview recently talking about how it went tits up in the end and really wish I had at least all the Warrior stuff. Im pissing in the wind aren't I? There was a GN wasn't there too..?

I really enjoy the current fanzines such as Zarjaz and Dogs Breath etc and enjoyed Class of '79 too but Im just wondering if anyone has any examples of older fan material or small press pieces or strips that they could post up and share here? Were there any other fanzines dedicated to 2000ad in the 70's and 80's that anyone here remembers..?

After ROTJ and the mass merchandising for SW ceased to exist the way it dominated 77-84, bar a few games and gamebooks there was really bugger all til the Timothy Zhan novels, Dark Horses 'Marvel reprints and the Special Editions all about/ over a decade later. It was only when it was established that there was still a fanbase that Lucas even bothered considering returning to it. Theres loads of SW media available books, comics, models, games etc, some poo, others amazing...Lucasfilm can only 'perpetually make Star Wars product' while people still want it.

I personally 'put up' with the love story, Ewoks, Jar Jar, plot holes and the like throughout both trilogys (and cant really defend 'em) because Im all about the evil Empire, bounty hunters and Sith Lords... and Tusken Raiders! If they got 'those' wrong I'd be a bit pissed off.

Im sooo thick skinned now re- 'prequel bashing'. As a fan of 'some' of the 'expanded universe' I reckon the tv series will be great... Bounty hunters, space pirates, scumbags, galactic tyranny... Whats not to like?

Robocop- In the cocaine factory- "You are all under.. arrest!" setting his targetting on them and mowing them down without even looking where he was firing (the flash get)!

Deadmans Shoes- Where that drug dealer says to Paddy Considines character
"what you fuckin lookin at"?
To which Paddy responds "You ya cunt!"

'Run Ronnie Run', thats a funny film. It's crass and purile but there's some piss funny subtle bits. Great Jack Black cameo 'musical number'...

My folks used to get me the marvel weeklies when I was a nipper, Star Wars in particular. From that I went to Spidey, Jonah Hex, Captain Carrot and the Zoo Crew, Conan,(basically any US monthly they had in the local newsagents), plus Starlord, Eagle re-launch, MWOM and the odd prog etc before getting my Dad to put a regular order in the newsagents for Tooth (from the early 400's). Helltrekkers, Cam Kennedy Dredd and Fabry on Slaine had me hooked.
