Megazine / Re: Meg 302

Dredd: Shakara was good, and Zombo too. But I've just really learnt to love the Flint-Droid. Atmospheric, detailed, loads of variety in his shots, pefect anatomy and facial expressions. And a unique style to boot, his aged chopper had such a Howard Chaykin vibe to him though, and that panel perefectly some up what I say about atmosphere and facial expressions, he nails exactly what is described in the narration. Also funny as hell script.

Lilly Mackenzie: Didn't see that twist coming, some really good stroytelling. Hard to see where this is going, didn't love it as much as earlier issues but it's defintley still go me intrested.

Hondo City Justice: Didn't like this installemnt as much either, not sure why though. Maybes becuase we've seen pretty much everythign here in the frist 2 parts. Except the tiwst I guess, didn't see that coming again.

Tales From The Black Museum: The art caught my eye and it was an entertaining story, but it was sort of a non-twist.

Anderson: This was pretty nuts! That guy commiting suicide and the vid slug, wierd. The way Boo Cook shows it makes it even wierder he has very unique style, but he also makes it clear with dead on storytelling.

Articlaes: I have BSG still to watch so wont be reading the one on Caprica, I never really take to the move reviewers style, Tom Savini interview was okay. The Carlos one was superb again though. Such sappy but well deserved tributes, I agree with every word they say.

Top Thrill: Dredd

Prog / Re: Prog 1701 Dead in the Water

Hate gettign my prog late...

Cover: Doesn't do much for me, not sure why as a lot of Leigh Gallaghers cover work I prefer to his strip work.

Indigo Prime Teaser: Awesome, love Edmund Bagwell, wouldn't have jumped to mind for art duties on this series but sure he will kick-ass. It was teh character from Dead Eyes who got invited to Indigo Prime right? I loved that series, so this should be very cool.

Dredd: Awesome again, Ben Wilsher is the perfect match for this script.

Defoe: Really really need to get the first trade of this... I want to love it but at the moment I just sort of like it. Last panel was pretty creepy!

Age of the Wolf: Didn't really like this at all, really thought it was going to have more of a classic horror vibe, atleast in teh early stages. And the art; there was the odd cool layouts or panel, but didn't jump out at me.

Low Life: Crazy fun, love it.

Nikolai Dante; Another Arbatov, seriously haha. Nikolai really cant sink any lower, so It's goo to know this is about to really get going.

Not the strongest Prog of late, but confident in a Prog or 2 Nikolai and Defoe will catch up to Dredd & Low Life, and then we'll be spoilt.

Classifieds / Can I buy your future Progs?
17 September, 2010, 02:35:53 PM
Well I've just started university and it seems it may to be costly to keep purchasing the megazine and 2000AD, and my mailbox is too insecure to risk getting a subscription. So I will either drop the megazine (after just starting to get it!) or both.

Now depending on which I drop I am looking to arrnage to buy someones collection of thee Progs I will miss up till August 2011 when my first year will be done.

So basically anyone who likes to buy the Prog and/ or Meg but treats them as disposable, or has regular clear outs is an ideal canditate.

Thanks in advance,

News / Re: ROMITA JR. DRAWS DREDD
16 September, 2010, 02:10:46 PM
I think some of his stylistic choices go against the whole principle of the character. Which is bad. But it's JRJR, his shit is so much fun.

I mean I wont be asking for a sketch of Dredd at Though Bubble, but I still like it.

I very much feel that Romita knocked this out in an hour or something. There's a lot

He's famous for being one the fastest artists in the biz anyway.

And I like his Dredd, it's different, but that's part of the idea I'd imagine.

General / Re: Subscription Price Hike - OUCH!
13 September, 2010, 07:39:55 PM
I was looking to get a subscription soon myself and I'm guessing the prices quoted on the site are incorrect? They haven't been updeated since the price increase.

Anyway; normally it's the case that subscriptiuons are cheaper anyway. That stuff about admin charges may be the case with Rebellion. But normally the fact they are locking you for 12months, and a lot screw you over by sending you stuff they hide in the small print is enough to cover the loss on the reduced cover price.

And if you haven't yet got Thrillpower Overload, get it now.

At a fiver it's a bargain, and I agree it's a good read.

Moving into my new student diggs on Sunday, going to buy another batch of trades.

Liking the map Emperor. Shame there aren't any stories, but ripe pickings for Fan-Fic.

not sure about Leeds.

There's a Zarjaz and Dogbreath thread down in the "comics" section and Dave and Rich who run it are both forum regulars, so sure if you ask one of them will let you know.

Cheers, I'll give them a shout.
