Re-read Dandridge and I really quite like it, and I'm really not a fan of Worley's writing so I think that says something about the strength of this paticular story.

Anyway only thing that confuses me now, in Part 2 an electricty/ telephone pole just collapses on him randomly? Why? First time I read it through I just assumed it was something to do with the barriers that had been set up for Dandridge hand a different effect on Shelley, him not being strictly human.

Totally missed the Pacman gag. Classic!

Got to say the the assistants identity went over my head too.

Just getting these now, makes me like the strip more. I'm going back to re-read all 3 now :-)

Cheers again guys,

Cover: I can see a lot of US comic fans thinking it was the King Pin, and non comic fans just thinking it is plain wierd. The girl behind the counter today gave me an odd look. Nicely exicuted if a little dull.

Dredd:
I digged the vibe this story was giving off, a vibe I felt across the comic. And old meets new, 2000Ad staples working along side the new up and coming future of 2000AD creators. Sorry I really can't rave about the art. But not bad overall.

Sinister Dexter:
'This is downlode...', 'Rack and Ruin' and the ongoing gag with Charon all got laughs out of me. Credit to Abnett still delivering on the puns after so many years. Art wasn't as good as usual, the panel of himn executing the 2 bouncers took a 2nd look to understand it but once you do, it is quite clever.

Future Shock: Pretty damn funny in parts. Nice qart. I'll leave it at that.

Slaine: Is it just me or this turning into a newspaper strip. The gang comically running away from the enemeies to wrap up this little instalment. I'd rather a still shot of him diving into combat, it's Slaine we know he will rip them to shreds. I think this whole stroy has been a waste of time to be honest, the big bad revealed only to fade out on the next page. Pointless.

I think they should take a risk; bring it into the Prog more regualr let it build momentum, in a similar format bring in some ongoing plot threads, but stick to the monster (job?) of the week idea. If it becomes even more tiresome jsut put it to rest, rather than building our hopes up only to let us down after not having seen him for a few months.

Dandridge:
Didn't love this as much as last weel I think the action sequence was cool, but cluttered by too much dialogue. Art wasn't the clearest either. Also who Shelley was he in the Past Imperfect?

Overall: An nother odd one, and I'm really not sure what I like the best. Slaine was the only bad one, the rest were all pretty similar in my eyes. Dredd or Dandridge by a whisker again?

Lee

Just gave my best mate Amerika. Other than the last 2 Annuals has pretty much ingnored all of my attempts to get him to read 2000AD. I know if he reads it he will enjoy it, it's just whether he will even give it the chance.

A little bit different for me;

1) America- it really is just that good. A chilling story, but Wagner being the genius he is still manages to cram it full of black humour.

2) Mega City Undercover (does this count?) The big guy only shows up in a few panels, but is suitably bad-ass and menacing in each. But this is more about making them love Mega-City One.

3) Tour of Duty -  Another cheat since it is more than 1TPB but I think this is some of the best 2000AD, hell comic book writing I've ever seen. Shows the mastery Wagner has over the 5page (-ish) format, and again the versatility of Dredd and his universe.

Only dissapointment of the day was I jumped out of the Kev Walker qeue to go back to get my JRJR sketch; only to find out he was doing them strictly in numerical order and I could cut into my place ahead of the guys only after signings at any time  :'(

Never mind, and I`ll throw up my sketches soon.

Books & Comics / Re: Whats everyone reading?

Those Calvin & Hobbes collections are gorgeous.

Anyway; finally got round to reading The Marvels Project. I think it treads on the feet of Marvels a little too much, especially since it's narrated in a style I wouldn't associate with Brubaker. But obviously given the creative team there are some very cool moments, beautifully illustrated.

It does make me crave for Twelve to be finished though! And I can't help but think another Chris Weston super hero story would work work in the Prog. I know we have a no super hero policy (Unless we are ripping the piss out of them,) but I think a very british take on super heroes during WW2 could make for an ARSOM read.

Either that or they should just let Weston finish The Twelve, the guy has already proved he can write it with the Spearhead One Shot.

The JRJR talk on Sunday at the Art Gallery was top stuff! That man's work ethic is incredible and a lesson to everyone in the industry... but lets not say too much about his family's connections

I hope a video of that goes up somehwere, I really wantred to go. But I was lucky enough to be number 23 of the 25 sketches he did. He and his wife really are nice people. The 25th guy in the que had to leave around half way through the day, and he was in a wheel chair, obviously given how busy it was it was going to pretty hard for him to get back to see him in the afternoon when he was sketching. So he did the it in advance, despite his hectic schedule.

Plus it was awesome to hear Dr Strange was one of his favourite characters.

Quotethe last couple of Progs for me have been some of the weakest this year

Couldn't agree more.  Prgos like this one make me think about not renewing my subscription

It's odd, because it's an anthology comic we expect to have the odd weaker Thrill mixed in with the usually ARSOM standards of qaulity. But it's not normally the case, we normally get one or the other, and unfortunatley the last few progs have been full of weaker thrills.

Sometimes we get a Future Shock to fill in gaps, but I often find when when the the rest of the Prog is great they put in a strong FS, rather than taking off the edge of a bad Prog with a strong FS.

On the plus side, I have no doubt Prog 2011 will kick all kinds of ass.

Cover: I'm a big fan of Edmund Bagwell, and there is a lot to like here but perhsps the colors are a but soft for such a bold cover image-wise.

Dredd: Didn't do much for me. For every good panel, both in terms of art and the writing/ dialogue another would let it down.

Sinister Dexter: I thought the dialogue here was a bit weaker than normal too, but still an enjoyable read.

Self Inflicted:Really like the art, and the basic premise was pretty cool, but just too expositiony, not to mention some of it didn't really make sense...

Slaine: I still think there is nothing to it.

Dandridge: Now I enjoyed this a suprising amount, like everything in the Prog this week it has its faults. But I like the characters, and I like the premise and its all done in a a peculiar style which I enjoy.

Overall: Really looking forward to Prog 2011, the last couple of Progs for me have been some of the weakest this year. Top Thrill Dandridge.

That said I went to the Zarjaz table 3 times and met exactly zilch boarders (bar the mighty Queen Bou who I bumped into at the Omnivistascope table) so there. Bolt and RAC don't count.

I met a couple, but Minty wasn't too hard to miss was he. Was anyone in the casino at the night time? It was more busy than last year, but creator-wise I only saw Al Ewing.

I did meet Barry from geek syndicate again who still remember me heckling him last year... Oops. And Andy from Dissecting Worlds. I'll have to start giving his podcast a listen, sounds pretty intresting.

Oh and thanks to Bolt-01 for the Mognrol sketch haha. Dark Judgement wasn't a bad read either.
