"That happens when you forget to take your brain medicine..."

Nothing so interesting ... I reckon it's just old age.

Cheers!

"Glad to see I'm not the only one completely nonplussed by the art and dialog."

Yeah ... it's frustrating, because there's a load of cracking ideas at the heart of Kipling, but the dialogue is rendered nigh on toshing unreadable, thanks to all the blorking grotsprockets, and I can barely figure out what's happening in half the panels.

Plus, as I said upthread, I find it strange that I have no clear mental image of either of the two supporting characters (or remember their names, it would seem).

OTOH, I should point out that I'm liking Chiascuro, and the gradual reveal of the supernatural nasty is working very nicely.

Cheers!

"And Boo's art, which was astounding on Asylum 2, now often seems to be a sketchy mess trying to hide beneath garish colours"

Have to agree. I'm finding it very hard to work out what the hell is going on in this story, and as a result, even harder to care. I have no clear idea in my head what either of Kipling's two supporting characters even look like.

Ho hum ...

"Best name for an act I've come across for a long time was the Indian tribute to the King, Patelvis.

Back when I did graphic design for newspapers, I did one for Singh Brothers Construction: 'You've tried the Cowboys, now try the Indians.'

I was nearly as amused by picking up two huge (and very reasonably priced) bags of split peas and lentils from one of our (many) local asian food retailers which were marketed under the brand name "Ruby".

"I fucking *knew* you'd be the first to crack.I fucking *knew* you'd be the first to crack."

You've made my fuckin' evening!

Y'know, there's a pub in Nottingham city centre that puts on a lot of (usually crap) live bands. The last one I was even tempted to see was solely on the basis of the name: 'Feed Them To Mongo.'

Still sorry I didn't go -- I've not seen a poster or a flyer for them since.

Cheers!

"if you have a problem with my spelling then i shall destroy you and stuff."

My Spidey-sense is tingling.

You need to rein it, troll-boy. This isn't Usenet.

"not among his top 10 experiances either"

Now, that's not getting at all tedious. And it's experiences.

"Much preferred this film"

May I refer the honourable gentleman back to my comments on one of the (many) 'Favourite Film' threads, where I cite Superman II as the daddy of all superhero movies?

Unfortunately, I am now far too drunk to operate the 'Search' feature on this site, but I suspect that it's on the 'Superhero Adaptation' thread that I started ...

Anyway ... you're right. And I fuckin' love you. You're my best mate, you are. [Knuckle rub to the top of the head in that way that indicates heterosexual fondness for another man that is IN NO WAY GAY AT ALL!]

Cheers!

"Does anyone know what Redondo's up to these days"

I Googled 'Jesus Redondo' earlier as a result of this thread. Although I didn't have time to do any detailed follow-up, the search threw a up a number of relatively recent titles on Amazon listing "Illustrator: Jesus Redondo" ...

So I'm guessing that he's still working.

Cheers!

"It would be easy to be cynical about it - given that it features horned demons and future shock style twists"

I've not read it for years, but I do remember it being engagingly bonkers - a real kitchen sink approach to the plot, with fantastic art by Redondo.

Now that I think about it, I think Redondo was another one of those artists who wasn't best served by the scripts 2000AD gave him.

Personally, I have no beef with the much-maligned Nemesis Book II, but I really feel that there was some kind of post-apocalypse fantasy story begging to be written for him that would have earned him Belardinelli-type fan affection.

Cheers!

Sorry, Chris -- you know the phrase 'car crash television' ...?

Well, the internet equivalent is the John Byrne Forum. Please see the link below ...

"Says the man who reads the Byrne Forum of Unlimited Twatness"

Oh, yeah ... and you need to sign up to the John Byrne forum, Chris. Honestly. That's where it's all really happening.

"I wanna stand out, man, innit?"

Respeck! Innit. Wotevvvaah. Mingah!

But, yeah, as per my last post to a.c.2000ad, I've pretty much given up on Usenet, too.

Eight and a half years, and the trolls and the spammers have finally driven me off.

It does feel like admitting defeat, but I just don't have either the time or the energy for it any more. Sad, but true.

FWIW, though, I get pretty much everything I liked about a.c.2000ad from this board. I hope you'll like it here, too ...

Cheers!

"BTW - I am not Mongo."

++ AWOOOGAH! ++ AWOOOGAH! ++

You've failed the Mongo test! By denying that you are him, you've proved that you really must be.

Mr Carter will be along shortly to ban you.

Cheers!
