General / Re: Any more Hamlyn Dredd Graphic Novels Coming?
20 September, 2002, 09:56:30 AM
I wonder what's the chance of Hamlyn publishing any more Dredd graphic novels?

Wake, any idea?

I was always very impressed by the quality of Hamlyn's graphic novels and also they weren't afraid to publish the newer stories either.

Titan seems to want to focus only on classic Dredd stories now, which is fine, but personally I also want to see newer Dredd stories in graphic novel format (as I've said many times before).

I can't see any real conflict here. I mean let Titan focus on the older material, which is what they seem to want to do, while Hamylnn publish the new stories (that is if they still want to/still have the licence to.

As a Dreddhead, I'm very concerned about the proposed stories for these films. Don't know whose responsible for writing the story, but it sure sounds like it was written by committee.

Still I'm hopefully opimistic, that the story outlines we've seen so far have just been smokescreens and that in the end we'll get something halfway decent.

At least it's potentially good news that we'll see some proper looking Lawmasters, not those things that looked like overgrown Vespa scooters that they used in the Stallone flick.

I just hope that they design proper looking Lawgiver MKIIs for the new movies and don't reuse the Stalone guns as have been shown in the ads so far.

And puh....lease, let's not have any more 'Double Whammies'. That sounds like something you'd order from a Burger King with fries!

Now I just wish present day scientist would hurry up with human cloning and accelerated growth experiments so they could clone a young Clint Eastwood to act in Dredd, as IMO he is the only person who could/should play Dredd. Just a pity he's too old now.

Here's a question for DavidXBrunt, how do I get the aforementioned rocks into my HiFi?

The CD tray on my HiFi only accepts things of the thickness of well....a CD! Plus I'm worried that the weight of the rock would snap off the CD tray.

Or are they very small rocks? in that case should'nt they be referred to as pebbles? Be careful, or someone my sue you for untruthful advertising!

Or am I on the wrong track here? Perhaps they are a new line in garden ornaments!

HiEx,
who would very much like a Judge Dredd garden Gnome

Ha! Even you PVS referred to Dredd as 'Joseph' in your recent online poll about Dredd's chin ;)

I don't ever recall Dredd being called 'Joseph' until the movie came out. To the best of my memory in 2000AD, whenever his first name was used it was always 'Joe'.

Yes, you can argue that Joe is a contraction of Joseph, but, it can also be a name by itself.

So, has Dredd ever been called Joseph in 2000AD or is this something that only started since the movie?

Personally, I think that Joe is a cool sounding name and perfect for Dredd, but I've never liked the sound of Joseph, IMO, the long form of the name just doesn't suit Dredd.

and the art's tip-top.

Personally speaking, the art is one of the things I disliked about Bison. I've never liked the over-simplified, nearly abstract style that some artists us. Give me art with lots of detail any day, which is why I prefer artists like Colin Wilson, Bolland, Elson and Ransom.

That is so funny. I might just have to track down a copy of prog 534 just to read the whole thing.

Could somebody do a scan of a page of the Nemesis photo story from prog 534? I'm really curious to see what it's like.
