Suggestions / Re: Some more Graphic novel sugges...
18 September, 2002, 09:32:49 AM
Just sticking to Dredd stuff for the moment, I'm curious, would most of you prefer to see Titan do reprint graphic novels of the classic Dredd stuff, e.g. 'The Day the Law Died', 'Necropolis', 'Judge Child Quest, 'Judgement Day' or would you rather see graphic novels of newer Dredd stories that have never been printed in graphic novel format?

Personally, I'd much rather see newer Dredd stuff, but this is mostly selfishness on my part as I pretty muuch have nearly all the old Titan Dredd graphic novels.

Anyway, why can't Titan do both old and new stories to keep everybody happy?

There's been a lot of talk recently on this board about Titan releasing some of the older Dredd stories, such as Necropolis and Judgement Day  as graphic novels, but what about the newer Dredd stories? I'd certainly buy graphic novels of some of the newer stuff. Here's my suggestions: -

Jamie B, I hope you are reading this.

1) The Dredd story 'Dead Ringer' (Meg 3.64 to 3.69) and 'Lawcon' (Meg 3.76 to 3.79). Although these stories are not related, I think they go well together and would make a nice 124 page graphic novel.

2) A collected volume of 'Lenny Zero' stories, (when there have been a few more published). Not exactly Dredd I know, but related.

3) A collected volume of stories featuring the new Rico, starting from his first appearance, which I missed :-(

4) 'Sin City' (progs 1289 to 1299) & 'Case for the Defence'(prog 1303) & 'The trial of Orlok' (progs ? to ?), collected in one volume.

5) The Colin Wilson drawn Dredd story 'Relentless' (progs 1237 to 1239). I know this story by itsself is too short for a graphic novel, but I love Colin Wilon's art on Dredd and I missed this story :-(

What other new stories would you all like to see as graphic novels?

Suggestions / New Adjective - It's a Bison!
17 September, 2002, 11:09:22 AM
I'd like to suggest that we adopt the word 'Bison' as a new adjective to describe anything which is spectacularly crap, i.e. This weeks episode of Sin/Dex was a real Bison!

Have to disagree with you about Colin Wilson and Ezquerra, still think they do great Dredd. McMahon is definitely past it though.

I didn't know Redondo was still around. What's the last thing he did for Tooth?

(Quote by Oddboy)

the art is just crap. It's the worst I've seen for many, many years in any comic

Except for last week's Dredd.

Ouch..........be careful Oddboy, or Logan's gonna come gunning for you.

I have to agree though McMahons present style is just plain crap, compared with his late 1970's work on Dredd.

IMO, McMahons Cursed Earth work is the defining Dredd. It's just a shame to see how much his style has changed.

Oh well, at least we have Henry Flint to give us a credible pseudo-early McMahon Dredd.

Ha, Oddboy, beat you to the reply by 2 minutes, although you did get the name of the cameras correct.....curse that creeping senility.

MC1 already has thousands, probably millions of CCTVs not to mention eye-in-the sky cameras all monitored by the Public Surveilance Unit (PSU) unit of Justice Dept.

Dredd - I agree with the general consensus that Baikie's art was pretty bad in this week's Dredd. Never a Baikie fan anyway.

Scrap - Quite good so far. I'm interested to see how this series develops. For a new strip it's certainly better than Bison (could anything be worse.....er.....Sin/Dex anyone?) Hopefully Scrap will have an ending that I can actually understand (unlike Avatar). I really like Elsons art and would love to see him doing more Dredd.

Rogue - I actually liked this Rogue story!

Bison - Thank Grud it's over! Now that the last episode is out I tried reading the whole series straight through to see if it's any better than reading it week by week and .....nope, it's still excruciatingly bad.

Sin/Dex - never a fan anyway, but this story is sinking to the level of a Bison. Heck if it sinks any lower, it will be sub-Bison in quality. Please let's have Dredd appear via time machine,or Dimension jump or whatever and blow these two morons away.

Overall 1309 was a very sub quality prog IMO. However, I still just renewed my subscription for both Tooth and Meg though!

Here's the new series that I'd like to see returning, as long as they are by the same creative teams that did the original series: -

1) Glimmer Rats
2) 13
3) Shakara

For returing older series, I'd love to see more VCs, Button Man and Stronty (in colour though) again real soon.

Prog / Which major character is going to die next?
13 September, 2002, 11:48:50 AM
Just returned from my hols and read prog 1307. I noticed it mentions in the Command Module or whatever it's called these days, that a major character is going to be killed off in the near future.

Anyone care to guess which character it's going to be?

It better not be Dredd. Personally I hope it's Sin/Dex or Dante that's going to get the chop.

I'm liking it so far. It was certainly the highpoint of prog 1309.

I agree with killing off Anderson. IMO, she's a character who's had her day.
