while we're reminiscing does anyone remember cruncg? i always remember being upset that the bounter hunter "Bearpaw Jay" was nothing like Johnny Alpha

You mean The Crunch.  Yeah, I thought it was one of DCTs best comics.  Arena particularly was good.  1970s Hotspur also defied the Dull Comics Thomson label.  Good boys adventures.

Sheez, Deadline was AWFUL!  Revolver though was one of the best comics ever produced - especially Dire Streets.  The Romance Special really was special though - same with the Horror Special.  Very recommended.

Thought Crisis was amazing (well, maybe not New Statesmen or at the very death) but much under-rated.

Nothing to do with 2000AD though.

Don't know if stuff like Flint, Ezquerra or Gibson would get a Striker fan going.  Think they would prefer the more 'real world' artist, such as Cam Kennedy, Bolland or Langley.

Cam Kennedy's Ro-Busters in Starlord.  The 9/11 spread where the plane crashes into the high-rise building, Futurepoint.  Amazed me at 9 years old, amazes me at considerably older.

Anyone got a scan?

I've had some correspondence with him through the Thor Message Board and he's been looking to move to the UK for some time.  I suppose 2000AD is then logical.

BTW, he's a decent artist but an amazing writer!  That last Thor act was exceptional and earned quite stunning reviews.

No requirement for any qualifications to teach in further/ higher education. I know there's the Lews Castle College. No chance there?

Likewise having AN invisible man but not The Invisible Man - and no Tarzan either (who was originally to be included).

Seriously, though, there must be a market for all those old British strips from Battle, Eagle and the like - but apart from Rebellion, no-one seems to be taking advantage

Well, there's us at Starscape!  Leopard from Lime Street from Buster.  Maybe something else next year. Your suggestions please!

There was talk of reprinting old Steel Claw stuff at one point, is that still happening?

Yup, The Spider is already pre-ordered.  Steel Claw to follow.

I think the Fall have been pretty bland for the last decade or so.  And yet before that, absolute kings!

Tracks don't have to be new; if you've listened to it this year, and enjoyed it, and it makes your top ten of the year

It's going to be pretty old then as I've been putting my record & tape collection into mp3s.  So:
1 Wedding Present - I'm Not Always So Stupid ('I bumped into Jane and she told me to drop dead')
2 McCarthy - From The Damned ('In the rain - the offices, every day - the same again')
3 The Fall - Rowche Rumble ('This is a groovy number - AAAAAH!)
4 New Order - Your Silent Face ('You've caught me at a bad time, so why don't you piss off')
5 Wah! - Story of the Blues ('First they take your pride...')
6 Wedding Present - Don't Laugh ('But your half of the bed was empty, so I guess I must have dreamt it')
7 Neurotic Boy Outsider - A Moth Around A Candle ('How's life I asked her - she said, why's he such a bastard?')
8 Band of Holy Joy - Someone Shares My Dreams ('Someone fits in the very same scheme of things')
9 Blue Aeroplanes - Lover & Confidante ('If I can't talk to her then I'd like to talk about her')
10 The Fall - High Tension Line ('Step down!')

Actually it's been mostly the Fall and Wedding Present this year - and McCarthy lately.

And if you like them, then listen here...
