Shame they won't let dogs on Mars - otherwise you'd be up there having a look! Where's Helen when you need her...

Forumer James Stacey just came round and dropped off a literal shit-ton of 2000ads :D Now... where to put them all?!

I'll have a ton of spares if anyone wants any - full list up in the classifieds thread later in the week after some wonderful wonderful list-makery :D

Well done to Integra and all that.

Also this courtesy of the 2kad FB -

At any point did he also wear a Metroid helmet or do loads of tweeters seem to think that a Dredd helmet looks similar to Samus Aran's?

You'd think a 'the dog stays in the cab' would have ticked all the boxes for the Lady of gate.

Isn't technically the interior of a vehicle not "the site" anyway - this is why workmen don't have to wear full PPE when they're in the cabs of their diggers? I say this because I was on quite a strict worksite the other day (arms covered, gloves and goggles at all times etc) and I noticed the digger drivers would gleefully peel off their protective gear the minute they mounted the vehicle. Not totally. Nobody wants to see that.

So "no dogs on site" isn't relevant if the dog doesn't leave the vehicle. I'd be all like "yeah go in but if I see that dog out of the car I'll have your arse". I have no doubt, given the intricate unfurling structure of your story (you are a writer sir!) that it didn't exactly play out word-for-word like that but you (and Helen) have acted commendably there by not blowin' up and making things more difficult for your boss. PATIENCE +20 DOG SKILLS +20 ASDA BOTHERY +20 you've levelled up, Shark!

The Guardian had to close down their comment section on this poor, unfortunate girls death due to the amount of negative commentry.

As much as I don't wish to extend this debate any further than it needs to - they didn't close their comment section due to negative commentary - they closed it because news stories like that tend not to have a comment section for speculation reasons and as such it was largely full of people going "why does this have a comments section, please close it!"

I actually witnessed this - when there was that couple that shot a policeman and then themselves in the US recently a girl tweeted "In class she was always so quiet, I can't believe she's gone :(" and a 'journalist' from the Express had PUBLICLY tweeted her like "@sallymae1996 care to speak with me on the phone about your friend?" and she said "no, no thank you too distressed to talk" and his heartfelt reply was "fair enough."

NOT SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS. NOT SORRY FOR DISTURBING YOU. Just "fair enough."

I simply don't CARE.

Then why even say it at all? Clearly people here with kids that age are feeling the Geldof's loss and you wade in with a comment like that. Mate you deserve a Campbell drubbing and a Tordelback takedown and I don't say that lightly.

Quote from: radiator on 07 April, 2014, 06:18:57 PM(such as the Wire reference this week, and little things from previous seasons like Cersei's comment about Tyrion's scar).

You DO think it was a reference then? It was fairly blatant. I'd like to put forward that the legendary Chicken scene saw the Hound snarl a Deadwood quote as well... but that'd be TOOO good.

Also they used the slightly offensive term
"pillow biter"
this week which is a little on-the-nose not to mention a very 20th Century British tabloid idiom. Which slightly pisses on the medieval random setting - although someone correct me if Georgey boy used it in the book!

WOW! You're right, you DO sound cruel & heartless well done.

And just when I was coming on here to say "It's heartening to see that people have been so constructive in dealing with this shocking news death - and those clucking about not wanting to see negative reactions need not worry"

but no. I'd suggest very very carefully reading this tweet by Journo (not droid) Rob Williams before you take to anywhere else with that cunning observation of yours.

...it'd be a bottle of scotch crosswed with a frustratingly unsigned affadavit with the house motto

"The fuck did I do?"

Very strong first episode. Think I spotted a Wire reference possibly maybe probably not.

I want a House McNulty sigil now!
