I was on telly every Saturday night on primetime BBC1 for four weeks in a row about 9 years ago.  The only person who ever recognised me was the guy who ran our local chip shop.  I'm quite glad of that...

Still puzzled by this - what have I missed? WERE YOU INSIDE MR BLOBBY?!

Wait... that came out wrong.

*Rolls out the worn-down "my famous encounters" anecdote*

I met David Tennant once whilst watching Goldie Lookin' Chain at Glastonbury festival - it was just as he was taking over as Doctor who in ... 2006? I asked him whether he'd abandon it as quickly as Eccleston and he was like "NAW!" he then went on to compliment my Iron Maiden shirt and expressed disappointment that they wouldn't be playing. After that it became a bit awkward so I left, but not before he'd introduced me to his girlfriend and her mate who I was profoundly less interested in.

Until I realised much later that his girlfriend was Sophia Myles a.k.a. Madame de Pompadour in that Who episode and uh, Lady Penelope in that live-action Thunderbirds film. So, two celebs I suppose?

I was far more bowled away when just after that encounter still dizzy and bewildered I bumped headlong into my comedy hero Kevin Eldon (best known for being brilliant in other people's shows):

Who I made laugh with a joke I can't remember now. Also in recent years it's occurred that he once shared a house with my Geoffery's mother... so all-in-all that was a surreal day - not to mention between those two moments poking my head into a tent and seeing an under-attended and very poor bit of stand-up from the bloke who was presenting Big Brothers' Big Mouth at the time. Russell Brand I think his name was :S

Glasto can be (annoyingly really when you consider how much other more interesting stuff there is to talk about) a "celebrity spotters" paradise. Last year was ridiculous for it - I raised my pint to Craig Charles, gabbled breathlessly as John-Paul Jones walked by, nearly got run down by a strutting Billy Bragg, the missus had a dance with Bez to Ed Tudor-Pole, we saw Pete the tourettes chap who won Big Brother (does that count as a celeb?) dancing in a long white furry coat to the Family Stone... etc etc etc etc etc

What's kind of deflating is the moment you realise that they're just other humans going about their own lives - and your intrusion is more often than not just nothing to them. Or exhausting. So I tend not to say anything if I see one, unless I have something genuinely useful to say.

Hmm if that's what you want Jon but I'm not sure I fully understand your sudden trepidation over the matter.

Leaving only seven images then as we thunder into the last 10 days - slowest comp we've had for a while - !

HdE speaks the truth - it may seem like they'll never end but trust me they will - just the fact you're being so open about them is good and it's a constructive attitude that will help quell them in time - the unfortunate thing about them is that they nearly never disappear as suddenly as they started.

Best piece of advice is to accept that they're there and learn to work with them - as fighting against them tends to make them worse. A good idea and one that helped me immeasurably is just simply writing down (just for yourself) how you feel when you get the attacks - why you feel you get them and you may suddenly hit on a revelation that goes a long way towards mending your mind.

Good luck with it and remember you're not alone!

I started reading the meg about half a year after getting into the prog and haven't put it down ever since - to me the two are inseparable and the meg is constantly changing which is quite refreshing. So for all the bad (I used to skim some of the more superfluous articles a few years ago, they used to have garbage opinion columns and *ahem* I don't want to be the third person on this thread to say sexy ostriches but yes, that seemingly consistently-disliked-but-still-going photo story thing that gobbles up a billion pages per issue) and the good (the much-missed small press section (!!!!), those Dredd archives they used to have, I do love the mini-floppies (fnarr), and the sheer weight of interesting experimental one-offs and the more than frequent high quality prog-level stories are irresistible). Miss it, miss out as live and kicking used to say with annoying frequency.

Long live the Meg - let's hope something magic for the 25th is in store next year!

Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa

Exactly as it should have been - remarkably well done with strong continuity cake and a lot of very good moments. As an ancient Partridge fan I very much approve - it's clearly been very carefully thought about and serves both new viewers and familiars alike. Brilliant. Patridgetacular even.
