Alright chaps - today my full tribute on Down the Tubes was published: http://downthetubes.net/?p=31490

I went hunting for opinions and was not disappointed - the comments below are very worthwhile even if my words above are balls!

Yeah, very effective. I said to someone today that despite its occasional trashiness it says something for a show in six season to leave you with that *utter struck dumb as you silently watch the credits roll* feeling.

I STILL think the structure is a bit off and that
white walker reveal
was almost comically fast.

Also - with all the door-based sorrow folk are forgetting GoT's real bit of season 6 magic here:

I was trawling through my old e-mails from him last night and was reminded of this big collaboration he took part in from the advent calendar waaayyy back in 2011. I believe this was the first time I worked with him, but it's a nice throwback to the collaborative spirit of the fandom!

The Fisher King

The second time I saw this the relatively schmaltzy flaws I originally perceived in it fell right by the wayside. It's a bizarre and dreamy picture, with an effortlessly charming Williams and some truly astonishing sequences (the station waltz being an obvious one). The overt (and dated) "man needs woman" theme jars slightly, along with their attempts to force Williams and Plummer's disjointed Lydia together. I found the gradual erosion of Bridges' cynicism allowing him to see the basic goodness in the excellent Reuhl far more moving romantically.

Any potential cheese issues aside it still functions as a classic Gilliam piece, brimming as it does with humanity and imagination.
Only a serial womanizer like Dr Manhattan could create a universe so massively sexist.
IT ALL MAKES SENSE  :o

I thought he was womanising in parallel rather than in series?

He was a prolific contributor to TAB, the weekly art blog that still runs over on FB. I've compiled an album of every single one of his entries here but I'll put up some of the relevant 2000 AD ones on this thread 'ere:

Regular artistic collaborator to many many small press ventures perhaps we could put some of his art up here - I'll start with what I said on FB...

He wrote and drew this story for the first Psychedelic Journal about a knight who fails to learn the meaning of life by doggedly pursuing his quest rather than embracing opportunities as he travels through abbreviated time.

Stephen seemed to embrace every single artistic opportunity that came his way, supported every small press anthology and threw himself every art jam - whipping up pieces sometimes in moments. His relentlessness was dizzying. His dedication tremendous. I am honoured I worked with him, and am inspired by his endless fervour to draw more, to take those opportunities that seem frightening and hurl himself towards them,.

That is the meaning of life.

Just heard Stephen Prestwood has died.

Oh Davey...

This is unbearable news. A new thread for him as well I think.

A shocker, this.

Nick Menza drummer with Megadeth on Rust in Peace, Countdown and Youthanasia. Rust in Peace particularly was one of the albums of my teens (in the 00s - it was an odd time :S )

He died drumming on stage at the legendary Baked Potato jazz club in Los Angeles.
