Already a third of the way there, outstanding work! White Hunter Black Heart is a good un alright. I demand that you watch Who Dares Wins, my  DVD copy can be in the post by tomorrow if you want it. (I got it for 50p in Cash Converters!)

I've read the first two series recently in my big re-read and they were great, especially the first one. The second is a bit too daft for it's own good sometimes but the ending is brilliant and I'm looking forward to reading the third one again a lot.

Books & Comics / Re: Graphic Novels, any good ones?
18 August, 2008, 01:54:28 AM
I think Transmetropolitan might be just up your street, it's a fantastic comic. And check out the brilliant Jeff Hawke, a truly underappreciated British comic! Los Bros Hernandez have started doing Love and Rockets as original graphic novels now, I think the first one is out or about to come out. There are some great collections of Dan Clowes' Eightball, and Chris Ware's Acme Novelty Library out there. The Walking Dead is another favourite of mine too. 100 Bullets has been a great read that is coming to an end soon, I think you can get it all in collections if you like crime comics.
Snake N Bacon's Cartoon Cabaret by Michael Kupperman is one of my all time favourites, it's completely mental and hysterically funny.

Books & Comics / Re: Pratchett - Not Dead... Yet.

Bless them, it must have took ages to make! Anyone who has suffered Alzheimer's in their family knows how unspeakably terrible a disease it is, Pratchett is doing a lot of good with his charity work and advocacy. I take my large hat off to him.

As long as they keep making Still Game I don't mind...:)
I'm hopeful about the Survivors remake like, and Sarah Jane Adventures is awesome.
Enough with the Ashes To Ashes though, for the love of god.

MUTIE! :)
There was a pro-mutant network in the lead up to the vote, they hid people in safe houses and that. And was it Beeny who asked Dredd "Did we win?" about the vote, suggesting the younger elements of Justice Department are on Dredd's side. But I think the majority are against this law, even though they're DEAD WRONG! Let em all in, except Ratfink.

Bleeding heart pro-mutie satchmo.

Off Topic / Re: What Newspaper Do You Buy?

I can't abide The Independent anymore, something about their "crusading" cover stories really winds me up. To paraphrase Peter Capaldi on The Thick Of It: "You can't just write CRUELTY on the front page and call it journalism!"
I got out of the habit of buying a paper when I realised I could read all of Charlie Brooker's columns online, if I do get a paper it's either The Guardian or The Times.

I feel there isn't enough Express bashing on this thread :)

Man, when Kate Beckinsale's arse bails out of a franchise it's time to call it a day...
I'll probably still watch it like :)

Prog / Re: PROG 1599 - Blind Rage
15 August, 2008, 11:18:29 PM
Bloody good prog I thought, I don't like end of run progs a lot of the time but this one managed to excite me about 1600 and be a good read in itself. I've liked the Die Hard vibe Dredd story a lot, and despite a few niggles with Dredd's portrayal it's been a good un with a poignant end. Dante certainly ended with a bang! Can't wait for the next series. Sin Dex could do with a bit of a kick up the arse but I'm still enjoying it, the Terror Tale was suitably nasty and memorable, with a nice surprise of Sir Clifford on art duties. And I liked Twisted Tales a lot, they aren't Bob's best work(that's Mr Amperduke!) but I applaud their inclusion, I'd rather see a Bob and an FS/TT in a '99 prog than a 12 page episode of Stone Island or ABC Warriors or whatever. I like 5 thrills a week damnit!
Hang on, how many thrills next week?!

Other Reviews / Re: Bob's Twisted Tale this week...
15 August, 2008, 10:58:21 PM
I didn't have any problem following this one, but a few sections I did have to read a few times to get. The only one I had real problems with was the prison break episode, I thought that one was pretty weak and hard to decipher. But I've enjoyed all of the others, and I adore Mr Amperduke, probably my favourite of all the comics I bought at Bristol this year.
There's clearly a bit of a problem with them like, if so many people are scratching their heads. I think Bob is a great storyteller but the art style on this week's has maybe made it pretty hard to follow, where Mr Amperduke flows like water.

Books & Comics / Re: Batman RIP + Final Crisis
15 August, 2008, 01:00:51 PM
I didn't understand a bloody word of the supposedly accessible DC Universe 0, so I had to look a lot of stuff up on the internet. Final Crisis I've quite liked so far, the Internal Affairs Green Lanterns and the Japanese superheroes have been good fun. I'm really not sure about Batman R.I.P. though. And they've brought back that stroker Hush, too.
Pete Milligan wrote a pretty good issue of Detective Comics recently.
