Other Reviews / Re: Defoe - possible spoilers

I'd recommend a reread Wod, it took me a long time to get into Defoe, it was Cromwell's head on a stick that did it for me. i went back and read it again and it made a lot more sense, and now I adore it.

I thought Mr Quick was one of Mene Tekel's agents, not the man/entity himself. But who knows? Defoe is so mental I wouldn't be surprised if Bendy came back to life and he was Mr T(ekel).
The writing on the wall says: I bloody love Defoe. It's crackers.

Chopper

DeMarco

Max Normal

Walter

Otto Sump

gah! that was a tough decision. I could pick another 50 to be honest!

I thought it said John Bummer for a second :)

I would have recommended Triffids and Forever War but I was pretty sure you'd read them both Paul.
I love the Foundation books too.

I'd second the shout out for Neuromancer, Gibson's short story collection Burning Chrome is great too. Red Star, Winter Orbit is probably my favourite.
The Road by Cormac McCarthy is indescribably bleak but an amazing book, unforgettable.
Way Station by Clifford D Simak is one of my all time favourite books of all time, ever. Of all time.

General / Re: Judge Dredd Help...

I'd agree with that, the beauty of Dredd is that it has been (to a large extent) written by it's creator for more than thirty years, and seeing how it all develops and changes with the times is amazing to behold. It's as exciting this week as it was to me when I was ten. So I would read a few more Casefiles before reading Total War or Brothers of The Blood. You'll definitely appreciate the later material more that way. Enjoy!

Prog / Re: Prog 1596 - The Unknown Soldier

Finally read my prog!
The Vort, in a very strong lineup, has been the first thing I've read for most of the last 8 weeks. I think it's the best thing Simon Spurrier has written for the House of Tharg, with some jaw dropping artwork. I would have much prefered it to be a standalone story, but hey ho. However, having now read the finale, and comments on this thread, I know that's not the end. I want more Vort, more Bless and more APCU, and it looks like I'm gonna get it. Frankly, I've never thought that much of Lobster Random, but for the first time I'm genuinely looking forward to seeing him return now. Malone made me care about Sin Dex again for the first time in ages, and hopefully the same thing will happen again here.
Despite my mixed feelings about the end, congrats to Spurrier and Disraeli for some high level thrill power over the last 2 months!

Dredd was lots of fun, the Basil in the final panel was a bit much but it's a great cliffhanger. Defoe was mental as ever but I love it, SinDex and Dante I'll read later, cos I'm off to read more on that filthy bastard Ratfink.
I love prog/meg week!

Yeah Tony Stark is all fun, it's his history of chronic alcoholism that makes him that way.

That story when Dredd got kidnapped and DeMarco rescued him, he was a collector too I think wasn't he?

Great commission that!

Golden Age comic artist Creig Flessel. He did a lot of the early covers on Detective Comics.

I was only talking about From Hell the movie by the way!
The comic I love even more than Watchmen, if such a thing is possible.

The Michael Caine TV Mini Series about Jack The Ripper tells pretty much the same story as From Hell the movie, but is much better, I love it. Also check out the 70s film Murder By Decree which is the Sherlock Holmes vs The Ripper one, but is a lot more thoughtful and interesting than that sounds!

I was always a vate and ozy man dee us pronouncer meself!

Sylar looks the business there! Casting him was most logical.
