"Warlands: Ice Age" used this lettering technique too.  I can't find any sequentials online, just covers.

I remember being impressed by it when I first saw it, but more so for the idea of it.  It's good that people are trying this stuff, but I think if it was effective it would have become more widespread.

In my opinion, when reading a comic your brain subconsciously fills in the blanks behind the balloons and, as long as the lettering is good, you don't really "see" the lettering.  Much like how you can forget that you are reading subtitles on a film after a while.

When the covered art is semi-visible and blurred you are more conscious of it and I find that I automatically, and again somewhat subconsciously, try to imagine what the uncovered art looks like instead of getting on with reading the comic and appreciating the important unobscured artwork.

Creative Common / Ian Rankin talks Dark Entries

He says he writes an A4 page per panel.  I'm guessing he read an Alan Moore script before any of Wagner's.

I'm sure John Wagner would have been fine with "The man walked into the pub" :D

Books & Comics / Re: DC to relaunch with 52 #1's

I think that if marvel or DC got their core titles down to 15 or so, and reigned in their crossovers and tie ins, they would get more people who would collect them all.

Hi Lads,

Wasn't sure whether to post this here or in Creative Common.

I've put the trailer to my upcoming short film online.

Hope you like it.

Nah.

£1.49 seems like an extortionate amount for a digital comic to me.

It's the overall cost of the extra postage that's stopping me as opposed to the lump sum.

Just need to scout out the newsagents nearby and see if anyone stocks it.

Aye, that's probably what I'll end up doing. Just not very convenient, where I'm living. Ah well.

 :o

160 pounds for combi subscription including postage within the UK.

And an extra 85 pounds on postage to Ireland!!!

Well, there's that idea out the window. That's insane.  :(

General / Subscription to Ireland

I was just wondering if anyone here gets 2000AD/Megazine through subscription to Ireland?

Do they arrive in good condition?

How much extra is the postage?

I get my comics from Page45 in Nottingham via mail order, but the postage costs are getting a bit high, as I clear my orders every few months.

Also, I'd probably stay more up to date with the stories if they arrived weekly, intead of in 3inch bundles!

Thanks

Brian

I mean are you sure the guy in the pics I posted is Rooker. The guy in the fringe intro seemed smaller and older than Rooker.

Are you sure?

I can see the resemblance but this dude looks way older, and way less built.
