Nah, the delay was caused by a greater demand than expected. A hell of a lot of people are getting that mail, basically everyone who signed up for mailings. I've recieved my first lot.

Kim Manners prolific director of television drama, including many episodes of The X-Files. He also directed the first episode of Supernatural, amongst others, and the first episode of season four.

If you're not watching Supernatural you should. More fun than you can imagine.

I was reacting more to your saying it's 'the greatest' and qualifying it with a list of subjective reasons why it really appeals to you. Feel free to call anything great but expect to have to back it up with more than 'I really like it'.

I mean I really like 'Wow' by Kylie Minogue. Greatest bit of music ever?

There's nothing racist about having an Italian cleaner, by the way.

That's not Dredd's wife you've got there, is it?

No his cleaner, which in its self was alarming racist

But just how funny was Gordons Whatever happened to? Brilliant stuff.

See that sounds a lot like a description of your favourite ever as opposed to the greatest ever. I could say a lot of the things you said but in reference to Giffens Justice League. I'd mean them just as sincerely. I could say it about Fables. And Cabalistics Inc. Doesn't make them the greatest ever though.

I can totally see where you're coming from, I just think that you're following the comic book road to the emerald citys comic book hall of fame, taken a short-cut thtough the hyperbole field, got govered in the pollen of over-exageration and taken a snooze of overstatement. Consider me the good fairy of common sense who wakes you on your way. I think if you get to the city and look behind the curtain you'll find that Robert Kirkman may be about to go off in a balloon and leave you stranded. And then you'll wake up and find this was all a drean.

Greatest comic ever? Very ver good, yeah. Brilliant occasionally, yeah. Greatest comic ever? Not by a country mile.

I've got nearly 50 discs heading my way...now how to smuggle them in so Nick oesn't see them before slowly putting them on shelves and attempting the old "I've had these for ages" routine...

Ah go on, you'll love it.

For myself I've got the complete Upstairs Downstairs, and The Adventures of Robin Hood. I was going to buy the Prisoner but as it's only a fiver cheaper than Amazons price I think I'll end up with Dawsons Weekly, Espionage, and At Home with the Braithwaites. Hoorah.

For the taste of it...Spam up.

It did occur to me that it was a spamtastic linkage but I'm not in anyway affiliated with the company, just a regular customer. One who shouldn't, really really shouldn't, buy the Complete Robin Hood on top of the complete Upstairs Downstairs. But I will anyway.

Film & TV / Network dvd sale

Those lovely people at www.networkdvd.net have a nifty sale on at the moment. Everything was cheaper from their website anyway but now there's an aditional 40% off.

They specialise in ITV related programmes and amongst their back catalogue are Beasts, Kinvig, Arthur C.Clarke and the kingdom of the crystal skull, Owl Service, and brilliant shows like The adventures of Robin Hood, Special Branch, The XYY man, Upstairs Downstairs, Press Gang, and classic Corrie.

The only danger, at this point, is overspending...

Suggestions / Re: The Best of Tharg's Terror Tales

Quote from: "TordelBack"On the subject of odd connection (?), I've just starting catching up on the incredibly good Vertigo comic Scalped (Deadwood meets James Ellroy), and scripter James Aaron credits Micheal Fleisher's work (on Scalphunter) as a major inspiration.  One day I'll have to look into this other Micheal Fleisher.

I can heartily recommend the Showcase presents Jonah Hex volume. Read that and you'll know exactly why Tharg thought he'd be a perfect fit for the comic, Because, really and truly, he should have been. A hard as nails, taciturn hero in dark, violent, morally ambiguous stories lightened by mordant humour...

Quote from: "ctaylor"On the Bigby issue Willingham did point out that he felt that was what this CHARACTER would say given his militarist background. He said he doubted any other CHARACTER would but this one. Mind having said that I don't think I would agree with Willingham''s views on Isreal but that doesn't mean he hasn't the right to have that opinion.

He's welcome to have any opinion he likes, and it's easy to brush it away and say it's Bigby talking, but that's the nearest thing we have to a hero in the book. The star. Espousing those views. But, yeah, he can think what he likes. I'm still reading so, you know...
