Books & Comics / Re: We're all Doooooomed!.........

I think it's a re-issue, as I had a copy of this montsh ago. It's a mixed bag, with some promising material and artwork sitting along side some stuff that's pretty atrocious. I ownder if theres a market for this kind of thing in yankee comics...

That would be ace.

I'm hugely in favour of bigger, thicker, more complete collections of absolute everything, to be honest, but in the case of Nemesis it would be particularly good as the early parts keep on getting collected while the later work gets left out. It's amazing that the Talbot work hasn't been collected since the Titan books in the 80s.

"I don't begrudge the old guard sticking with their old properties as long as they're doing them as well as they do."

it can be rather apparent when they're phoning it in though.

Whaaaaaaa-?

Lobster Random and Button Man are both examples of strips that rely heavily on a tone that only their respective authors could impart.

Probably the same could be said for ABC Warriors, though I'm not the best judge of that as I consider Pat Mills to have wrapped up all his decent work sometime around Prog 700.

Theres actually (shock!) and interesting little debate going on over at alt.comics.2000ad regarding detailed, cross hatched styles of artwork vs big block sytles of artwork.

Meanwhile we have several threads of sub-viz smut-jokes. The natural order of the world has been inverted!

Late 90s big beat whackiness. They have a few very likeable tracks, but IMHO nothing about them pushes their work to a "must have" level.

If you;re into that kind of thing you might want to  grab a Skint compilation and hunt down albulms by the artists you like.

Clint is actually very good at movie soundtracks, whereas any resurrection of PWEI would most likely suck, so I'm not exactly sad to see him doing that.

I heard the other day that Senser still exists. Senser! Remember them?

Well they probably shouldn't have tested all 6 people at the same time, but other than that I don't really see that they've done anything wrong. There's always a possibility that an untested substance will cause an unexpected reaction, thats why their tested, so really this is a drug trial gone horribly right - in that we now know not to inject anybody with that stuff.

Or maybe the thinking is "hey, I ingest random chemicals all the time - they haven't killed me yet!"
