Hmm... you're raffle idea may make the pub owners think theres some kind of unofficial gambling event going on in their pub, which could piss them off and make them chuck as out. Maybe an online competition would be better?

Myself and Oddboy went a breif reconnaissance expedidition to the Horse and Groom last night. It?s a pleasant enough pub, though nothing special. I don't see any difficulty in us meeting up their for Shedcon.

However it is worth remembering that Shedcon is just us meeting up for a piss up. Its not any kind of official organised event at all. I think it might be worth radically downgrading any expectations you have regarding quizzes, readings, handing out prizes etc... Etc... I don't see any of those things working well at all.

See you all there!

IU miss the bizarre, fuzzy-felt animation style of The Moomins.

Heh...

Its not even "Wonder-womands plane" transparent, or "Predator" distorted, its actually completely invisible.

Aparently this is achieved by tiny cameras relaying the image on one side of the car to thin screesn on the other side. Which would work if the car were completely flat and you only viewed it from one angle, but since it isn't and you don't its kind of bollocksy.

Is Iceland really like that?

Well, the frozen glacial lake IS in Iceland, so yeah kind off. But the fake-ass CGI cliff isn't, as you may have guessed. And the big dome things are in Devon. Also though they shot a bunch of long shots in Iceland none of the actors ever went there.

I may be wrong, but I have a strong suspicion that finding diamonds in Iceland would not just be unlikely but impossible, geologically its just too young... I know that?s just a cover story but you'd think they'd come up with something more plausible.

Oh yeah, and why do the guards speak German? Wouldn't Korean, English or Icelandic be more likely? Or is German just the standard eurohenchman language?

Silly as fuck, all of it. But I enjoyed it none the less.

Saw it lats night. The first half has a semi-decent plot and the second have, though basically a series of fights and chases, is pretty inventive but is let down by some of the dodgiest CGI I've seen in a movie for years. Overall its good fun.

Its no Goldeneye though.

I assume this is someones attempt to put geopolitical events of the early 21st century into some kind of context they can understand.

(if  such a thing can exists)

Opening shot - the empire states  building ta night. Background music of the kind associated for TV trailers for The A-Team, Knightrider, soft porn.

Cut-to - a greasy biker wanders around some ruins, presumably symbolic-of-but-not-actually ground zero, looking a flags, grabbing at soil, looking at missing posters of cute children etc.

Cut to - greasy biker makes a wrestling costume for himself out of a US flag that?s lying around. Gets on a Harley and rides off, carrying a flag.

Cut to - evil arab terrorists armed with M16s in a new York alley way. They spray greasy biker with bullets, but he deflects them with nunchucks.

I got distracted for a bit, but I assume at this point the biker beats up the terrorists.

Cut to - micro trailer for Raverdatyl, which looks even more ass.
