Hmm... I'm not sure that 2000ad is black and white as such, I think its actually a colour print of a b7W image, if you see what I mean.

You know, scene in this light I feel like I've been a bitter and misguided individual in complaining about the cover. After all, who am I to get in the way of getting in an editors attempt to cop off with models?

Its basically Tharg, under a false name (Matt something), saying "Cor, look at the knockers on that". Its not exactly highly dignified.

A statue inside the Victory Park WWII Memorial in Moscow, against a red star on the huge white dome which reminds me of the city Supermans parents came from in the movie...http://www.arthurwyatt.co.uk/temp/soviet.jpg">

I always liked the way Hewlett drew women. Apparnently (and highly allegedly) hes a total letch, so theres a certain amount of drawing from observation there.

Um, is Cosmonaut Keep Alt. Universe or does McLeod just have some somewhat unrealistic expectations for the resurgence of communism?

In comics, its still worth checking out Bryan Talbots The Adventures of Luther Arkwright, set in a number of alternate universes but most notably one in which the descendants of Oliver Cromwell continue tor rule a puritan england.

For a writer who says he doesn't liek Super heros, Ellis seems to write a hell of a lot of comics feauturing them. The best ones are SF/Action-adventure/Pulp with only a few nods to the mainstream superhero genre though.

Have you tried Transmetropolitan? Not even a hint of superheros in that.
