"Remember that half of Satanus was actually last year, so it's only the shit half you're voting on."

Yeah, I got a bit confused over this too when I checked the 2000AD Review site, as the first Meg with Satanus is down as being from November 2003, but on further inspection it looks like the Meg with the first episode of Satanus is dated from Jan 2004, so I s'pose it counts. Looking over the reviews again, it was really only the very last episode which was completely irredeemable, but by jeebus it was diabolical enough to get my vote.

You're spot on with Synnamon, though. I really quite enjoyed the recent three parter (though, I wasn't too put out by the earlier one either, to be fair).

I think Blood of Satanus II going cack halfway through was the reason I disliked it so much. One minute I'm thinking, "yep, this could be interesting", and the next it's "aargh aargh aieeee!". Felt very let down by it whereas other less wonderful tales didn't really raise any hopes to begin with.

In retrospect, I really liked the Mr. Flint double Dredd cover, and the Mr. Ezquerra Koburn cover. However, the Mr. Langley Scota cover provoked an initial reaction of "zoinks, that's magic!", and even though I probably prefer one of the other two now, I'm gonna go with Scota, just for the first impression, which is probably what the cover vote should be all about...
Maybe...
Any opinions on this?

Step 1. Send Crimbo cards (for next year, bit late for this year now)
Step 2. Sell orbital death ray for much needed funds.
Step 3. Use funds to complete work on Doomsday Device.
Step 4. Muwahahahahahahahaha!

Thank you. It was a wallpaper on my PC for ages. I don't think, I've ever been quite the same since...

Okay, we're up and running. Cheers for the help, Max.

The "2000AD.com" thing above was just a typo on my part. I don't think I spread too much fear or confusion.

(Should I feel this giddy about seeing an icon on my posts?)

I sent a mail to the icons at 2000ad.com address today. Will that still get picked up, or do I have to go through Max now?

Mate of mine uses "Mad out of it!", or it's sub-variant "Spun out of it!" (which arose from an episode involving a fast revolving office chair and a bottle of Tequila). Both goodies when used with the correct inflection.

Have "banjoed" and "banjaxed" been mentioned yet? Or even "shook". That's more of a hangover description really. It should be used on it's own and not in conjunction with "up" for correct impact.

"Steve is looking very shook"
"Yeah, looks like that money he spent on that celebrity relaxation centre was a bit of a waste"

Jayzus, I too use "in a state of enhanced refreshment" a lot. It's a classic.

Current favourite has to be "charming and interesting" (which I'm pretty sure no one else uses due to the amount of blank looks I get when using it). Being "charming and interesting" arrives at the point in the evening when you thoroughly believe that you have never been more charming and interesting, but in actuality you are a rambling drunken mess.

"The evening was going swimmingly until Steve became extremely charming and interesting and tried to pick a fight with the garden fence".

Yep a no-brain Hollywood action flick of a story. Wholesale destruction, and zombies everywhere, and it's still not any good at all. A little like the similarly brainless Independence Day, there might be a kernel of a good story in there, but it's covered under too many layers of kack.

Try and get the Medieval Total War with the Viking Invasion expansion (think you can get it cheap on Play.com). The VI expansion adds a lot of nice little things to the orginal game and adds a new campaign map for just the British Isles (rather than all of Europe).

Make sure to get the latest patch for the game however, as some "features" cropped up in the orginal that made things go a bit peculiar.

It's one of the best games ever, but I got the new one (Rome Total War) recently, and that's even better!

Mmm, Medieval Total War, one of my all time faves. A top suggestion, but is v.addictive and quite involved. You may like to give Dungeon Keeper 2 a shot. It's currently available for half nothing. You play as some kind of evil entity that builds a dungeon and waits for all kind of evil beasties to be attracted to the place you've built. Vampires like graveyards, warlocks like libraries, and mistresses (a kind of scary dominatrix type of thing) like torture chambers! Eventually, the forces of good try to spoil the party, and with a bit of luck will walk into all the traps you've prepared (yes, there is an option to have a big Indiana Jones style boulder roll down a narrow corridor!). If the traps don't get 'em, your beasties will.

Your beasties will look after themselves with very little need for micromanagement, so you can concentrate on building deathtraps and the like. There is also a couple of "Pet Dungeon" missions, which is kind of like a sandbox, where there's no pressure to complete mission goals.

The game is a few years old now, but it's still a goodie, and will run on just about anything.

Wils,

Regarding your picture of Donald Sutherland above. Do you (or anyone else) have a copy of the sound he is making at this point in the movie?

I've been trying to track down this particular noise on the Interweb for a good while now, with no success.

(Dear Reader, If you have no idea what I'm talking about, don't try to figure it out, lest ye be spolit!)

Also, in a shock on topic move, I only have the most recent best of album of Mr. Bowie's. The tracks on it are flippin' aces, but "best ofs" are not the same as a proper coherent album, so,  by extrapolation only, I declare him very great indeed.
