My brother's classic criticism, not one I've heard yet:

"Aye, that was pretty thick ice on the pond in Central Park"

Happy New Year :o)

Put beautifully, but with not enough emphasis on the fight with the T Rex type dinos. Best action sequence EVER!*

*said in the best Kongesque grindcore growl*

and of course, beats chest.

bump and also back on topic...

Just back from seeing Kong, absolutely stunned. Pisses all over Jurrasic Park's dinosaurs that's for sure! Also the saddest film I've ever ever seen. Won't someone please think of the Gorillas!

KONG RULES!!!

"Anyone for The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms"

Hmm, not sure I remember that one. I remember Beeb2 showed one (monster film) every friday for a while, about 20 years ago :o) Must have seen it at some point.

1,000,000 years BC of course which puts Jurassic Park's "out of time" cretaceous dinosaurs to shame with the dinosaurs on the go at the same time as rather advanced looking large breasted blonde humans.

The Land that Time Forgot too, Doug McClure at his finest :o) Written by Michael Moorcock, which has got to count for something surely?

Anyway, going to see King Poodle (sorry, wrong thread) next Friday, can't wait!

He he, I'd keep expecting him to break into song at some point. Looking forward to seeing it. Monster films, can't beat em. Now I'm hoping they'll remake other classics such as Valley of the Gwangi and that other one that's set in the west of Scotland. You know, when they capture it and then decide, "Oh my God, it's just a baby. Look out, here's comes it's Mum!" Was that Gorgo or something else?

Thrills indeed!

Splendid cover.

Dredd 1: What everyone's said really. Excellent artwork, I like Staples' close-up fuzzy Dredd.

Dredd 2: Meh, good for a chuckle, didn't get overly silly and interesting art.

Sinister Dexter: Marvellous. Completely confusing, looking very much like it means Dexter isn't dead and a rather nifty Xmas costume Demi had on :o)

10-Seconders: Looks interesting, excellent art.

Slaine: Hmm, yes mostly but the whole "Carnivale" thing annoyed me a bit. Meaning the TV series, Mills has used a couple of "phrases" that (to me) come from the American. I may be wrong and these phrases originate from old Celtic carnivals but "blow off" just sounds American. Can't remember the other one but it just reminded me too much of Carnivale, in much the same way that American Gothic reminded me of Nightbreed. Looking forward to the rest though, it's not as if there's never been a tooth story based on something else eh?

Strontium Dog: Great as per usual, hilarious seeing Wulf without his beard!

Dante: Not the strongest story, but we'll see how it pans out. Great art too, but I miss Simon Fraser on Dante.

Lowlife: Laughed a lot. Some very cheesy nonsense but Lobster Doug likes that kind of thing :o)

Ads: Very very much looking forward to Origins, as well as Button Man, although I didn't realise it meant it was returning, thought it was just one of those 'here's a picture of an old strip' kind of things. Chiascojo or whatever it is looks intriguing too. Si (and Smudge of course), really really sorry about that btw :o)

Yep, I'd agree there was always at lesat one decent strip going (Warriors, Anderson, Slaine and of course Dredd, despite the Ennis period which quite enjoyed in a strange way). I didn't find it that bad as I was reading through them so quickly. As I said though, if it was at the time...

The worst thing was the dated styles that appeared. Nearly choked when I came across the "Windows 3.1" style cover, and all the late Robo-Hunter and many of the unmentionables above were a bit of a chore.

Still, been happy as a thrill-sucker in the Big Brother house since I started again!

Yep, I stopped getting it at I think 474, when I thought I'd grown up (was 15). Kept up with the Slaine GNs and stuff in between. Still reread stuff now and again too. Certainly looked after them religously, made sure I took them with me when I moved out, lest they find their way to a jumble sale or something (like my Eagle Transporters!).

Started again at 1000 and have obtained the missing ones over a few years. Got given quite a few by various people so only had to find 100 or so.

Rereading all them it seemed that if I didn't quit when I did, I certainly would have a couple of years later :o) After Bad Company of course.

Lobster Doug checks the news quickly before heading off to bed. 'Meh, let see what's in the news' he thinks. 'Hooooooly shit', he exclaims.

Bloody miracle no one was killed, bloody lucky it was that time of day. Must have been well scary for anyone within miles of the place. Good luck to everyone dealing with it, rather than reading about it half a day after it happened and posting silly comments (meaning me).

Ah, it takes me back to the time the Power Tower went up...

This is too silly, I'm off to bed.

However, I shall stand by the Calhabcon decision and agree that a fez is, indeed, a hat.

Lobster in a Xmas hat.

There was a "chinese looking" girl in it a while ago. Nearly caused a riot it did! :o)

But otherwise, yes. I seem to remember some rant about it being a "racist fix" for people in Britain in some paper or other.

Hmm, that's not the thing I was thinking of at all. Better change me vote.

Thought it was the newspaper type story thing. Is that still here? " gets arrested for Umpty dealing" type of thing?
