Hmm, the earliest reference I can find (on here) was "toothy" by steven lenfant terrible (another old name!) in Thread 64. Was he the first or did it spill over from alt.comics.2000ad?

I seem to remember a couple of people saying they'd called it that for years mind you.

Oooooh, not a good idea.

Remember, a lobster is for life, not just for Xmas :o)

Eek, I remember that from a while ago, was with a long list of cases of um, similar things growing inside people. Snakes, various insects, you name it.

Sweet Grud, there's a tangent I wasn't expecting :o)

So, we looking at a Lobster Random/Leviathan crossover now?

I may have to have a change of name lest I be associated with that book!

Well, it's all to do with toxins that are released upon death, which are prevented by boiling alive, so the head-bashing thing is out.

There's a bit in the article saying that a knife in the back does the job (how fitting), but it may miss the heart apparently.

I've never eaten lobster myself, and not being a vegetarian I've got no moral objection although I don't think I'd fancy being boiled alive myself. Better the knife in the back in my opinion :o)

One point is that it does away with the whole tradition of choosing your lobster from the tank, which would be akin to choosing which fluffy little lamb from a small paddock on your way into a restaurant. Bit sick, really, although is it? Hmm, who can say, except for the lamb itself, which of course it can't.

Not sure about the details, but the process must be rather quick if it prevents the release of the poison.

Apparently, there are moves afoot to stop lobsters being boiled alive. Local chefs are stunned etc, disaster for Scottish fishing communities and all that...

An interesting twist on the recurring vegetarian thread, do lobsters feel pain or are they just like insects and not deserving of our sympathy?

Discuss...if you've nothing better to do...

P.S. It's not a poll really :o)

There is of course the Garth Ennis ending where an alternative Dredd suddenly appears out of a dimension portal having teamed up with 6 of Dredd's greatest ever foes, all of whom are dead. The alternative Judge Death ressurects the woman, who turns out to be an alien. Meanwhile, 25 billion people die when a mysterious fog covers the entire globe. The fog then coalesces into another alien, gets reunited with "the wife" and leaves Earth and a gobsmacked Dredd behind. None of the alternative dimension stuff gets resolved.

I thought Dredd seemed ambiguous really. Did he pull the wires out, or was he grabbing the guy's hand. But er, no, he's holding the wire, ahhh, it's Robbie Morrison. That's kind of how it went for me.

Red Seas is great, didn't like it much in earlier stages (before this story) but it's grown on me. I've always loved Steve Yeowell's artwork, but I've said it before and I'll say it again, it could do with some colour. Not full blown Blythe colour, something subtle and "old" looking. Washy watercoloury colour, y'know, like the sea.

Leatherjack has been splendid, great ending. Could have been weirder :o)

SinDex: Top Class!

Oh yeah, the cover was also great but I agree that too much white space was left, maybe. Nah, it was fine, emphasis and all that. Awaiting the end eagerly. May have to read through that one again too, too fast a pace to read weekly.

That's dangerous that is. I said I'd do that with Devlin Waugh in the Megazine, but it never happened. Oh, and Hellboy :o)

It's also been about a year since I read a Megazine. I've got a sub too. How's that for abstinance and bad spelling.

This thread is just the perfect example of why this board is great ;-)

lol, given the original topic, it seems to have become like a big contentious family funeral.
