Obviously, that's brilliant...

But would it be wrong of me to suggest I like the pen one just as much, if not a tad more?

Internet geekage consensus seems to be there was a stamp/logo on the shark's tail -- possibly the same "Dharma" logo all over the mad scotsman's stuff.

Folks: someone posted a link to a map of Mega City One, showing all the sector demarcations and whatnot.

Anybody know where it is?

I read the eye-slippage as the contractor bloke's "partner" (some sort of extra-dimensional gribblie, if I remember right) transferring itself into the President.

Pffft.  Nothing to do with me.  I retired my short-lived alter ego when it became clear that a) I couldn't keep a secret for toffee whilst drunk-posting, and b) it's so much more satisfying to tell people to fuck the fucking fuck off to their fucking faces than it is to do it via a psyeje... psyend...psue... made-up name.

Although, whilst I'm about it, this "nofuture" feller is clearly a visionary, and everyone should listen to his advice about rushing out and buying the overpriced underpaged Lobster Random hardback RIGHT NOW.

Bananas with ringtabs etc etc, what a load of cock.

BUT, I have to say, I have a tiny amount of sympathy for the "Intelligent Design" idea.  Not the way these two gurning morons explain it, but still.  Given how much we DON'T know it's a little arrogant to utterly dismiss the possibility that there was some guiding hand in the Way Things Were/Are/Will Be, just as it's arrogant to dismiss the idea that thanks to a bunch of natural processes Stuff Just Happened.

But what confuses me UTTERLY about all these Intelligent Design espousers, who rant and rave about big philosophical stuff with conviction and energy, is that they then arserape their own Grand Existential concepts by narrowing the context down to "so, the bible is true!" or "Jesus died for your sins!" or what the feck ever.

I'm prepared to accept that there may be a lot more about the creation of the universe than we're aware of.  I'm prepared to accept that there's the chance that some element of Intelligent Design got involved, though in what form and for what purpose is anyone's guess.  These are all perfectly fine "Possibles".  But how the fucknuckle does it "logically" relate to a bunch of dusty desert tribes, old men being seduced by their daughters, seas parting, plagues and wars, whales swallowing scared men, lions, stars in the east, and a charismatic guru being nailed to a plank?

Intelligent Design and Religion aren't mutually inclusive, as bonkers as that may sound.

(But they should still stick to teaching evolution in the biology books.  At least the poor teachers can sound like they know what they're talking about, rather than umming and aahhhing their way through a bunch of "nobodoy knows"es.)

Off Topic / Re: Riddle me this...

I'm guessing that the spare cigarette is probably central to the solution, or it wouldn't be there...  So as inelegant as it might be, some sort of Ray Mears stylee getup using the spare fag tobacco and paper as kindling, along with a couple of bits of damp wood from the raft, and hey presto: Man Make Fire.

But most riddles tend to be far smarmier than that, so I'm betting that's not it.

I'm sure it's not, but the large feller on the right there bears a truly uncanny resemblance to the mighty Essad Ribic; Marvel artist, uberpervert, and all round top-bloke.

Help! / Mp3s and Tech Shmuckery
19 April, 2006, 01:02:34 AM
Hi.  Help!?

I'll tell you what I want, what I really really want: a decent MP3 file of Ennio Morricone's "The Good The Bad and the Ugly".  I want this without having to sign-up to some monthly/yearly subscription arsesite, without having to wade my way through twelve million "Mobile Ringtone" adverts and without having to pay more than the 79p that iTunes will charge me for the same thing.  I also don't want to sign-up to some file-sharing network which will watch my web-browsing trends and start bomobarding me with individually-targetted ads.

Alternatively, I want something that will allow me to convert my iPod file of the same tune into an MP3.

Are either of these things possible?

Answers, if there are any, would be most gratefully received if in Stupidtalk.

Thanks.

"I don't care. I still thought it was fun."

Mm.  So's sex, but if you're stopping every five minutes to think "hang on... why the hell did *that* happen?", then something ain't right.

But I take your point.  I think the minutiae need to reflect the quality of the big picture for me, that's all.  The script was pretty dire, but if everything else had been superb I think I would've forgiven it and concentrated on the "fun".  As it was...  Blech.

Anyway.
