Quote from: SIP on 20 August, 2016, 01:21:29 AMRight? God help me if they get the Star Wars license, I'll be in the poor house in no time, lol.
My son is 8 now and absolutely loves generation 1 transformers ( undoubtedly my fault) and has an impressive collection (started by myself and my two brothers). He loves seeing what toys I buy next. The dark knight mezco is fantastic. I was a big fan of the graphic novel when it was originally released. I haven't seen a bad mezco figure yet, their one 12 collective is impressive. The only thing reigning me in at the moment is my 1/6 collecting of my movie heroes. Mezco one 12 is incredibly impressive and is clearly the benchmark for the scale. I will pick up more of their figures as the quality is so high.
Quote from: COMMANDO FORCES on 19 August, 2016, 07:07:42 PMHe's crap, but okay? Isn't that contradictory?
My Tharg is okay, he's crap but he's okay.
Quote from: TheTooN on 19 August, 2016, 04:01:33 PMDROKK! That dose not inspire confidence in me for future releases. I think I'm just gonna have to face facts that these 3A figures are not going to be of the same quality as MEZCO's.Quote from: Dreddzilla on 19 August, 2016, 02:26:15 PM
How is the uniform degrading? You mean the faux fabric or the plastic bits?
Just the uniform itself, bar the belt the plastic bits n bobs are still spot on.
Overuse I guess, its just looking pretty tired now, worst around the waist where the belt snapped off and left a big hole. It also has fine dust around some seams which Gregory said was probably the paint weathering rubbing off.
I dont treat them roughly but I pushed the artic too far, Death was the first figure I'd bought from 3A and I posed it like I did Mezco Dredd, It didnt like it. Early design tho and I'm sure Dredd onwards the quality will improve. Might be too late for the other Dark Judges but I'll treat those ones with kid gloves.

I'm happy to wait until they get it as good as it can be. We'll be seeing this body re-used a lot on future characters so its gotta be right.
We know 3A will get the aesthetics spot on but it needs to be close to Mezco's in terms of articulation and durability to really hit the spot. Death was a looker but my regular version has pretty much disintegrated from posing. Leg pops off, one arm too, both feet fall out of the peg holes, belt buckle has cracked both sides and is now a loose skull held in with blu-tac. Uniform degrading too, it kinda suits him but thats not the point. I've barely touched the c/b one for fear of the same thing happening. Its still a fantastic figure, dont get me wrong but Dredd needs to be a big improvement.
Quote from: Tordelback on 13 August, 2016, 11:37:27 PMI have to disagree with you on the Diverging timelines starting after the Kelvin incident. I would argue the timeline was altered after the events of 'FC' which explains why the ENT era tech looked so much sleeker and advanced than anything from TOS era, especially the look and size of the Kelvin looking more like it came from the ENT era than classic Trek.Quote from: Andy B on 13 August, 2016, 01:50:54 PM
Just one complaint - and I know this is a really geeky one - the Yorktown. It was just too much: technologically far, far in advance of anything we've seen the Federation build in any timeline. They must have started building it before the Enterprise was even launched... How?
So that was jarring. Felt like it was in the wrong film.
Gotta disagree.
Real world justification: ST is set in the future. It's about the wonders of space exploration. In order to generate that sense of wonder in 2016, you can't just use the space station from Trouble with Tribbles, or even DS9. To capture the ST feel it has to be fresh and mind-blowing: Yorktown is. Your reference to the Culture's GSVs is spot on. That's what this type of Starbase is. Impressive, eh? One of my big beefs about the first two films was that the interiors of almost everything looked like 20th C industrial mixed with an Apple store: Beyond gives us the futuristic imagery I crave.
In universe explanation: technology has been hugely affected by the Kelvin incident, and the future tech it revealed. The Enterprise herself is over twice the length of the original, in and around the size of the TNG Enterprise-D. The ridiculous Vengeance from Into Darkness dwarfs even that, by far the biggest Starfleet vessel we've ever seen. The loss of Vulcan and most of Starfleet 4 years earlier may have shaken people's sense of security of even the founder planets, and made emigration to the frontier seem less daunting, as well as increasing Starfleet' funding massively.
But mainly the wow factor.
Quote from: COMMANDO FORCES on 19 August, 2016, 05:39:12 AMI'm really, really, REALLY hoping this means I won't have the same problems with Dredd that I had with Judge Death.
I'm gonna guess October, so they can all be wrapped up for Christmas.
Quote from: TheTooN on 19 July, 2016, 04:38:13 PMK believe the Navy Blue set will be a Mezco Toyz exclusive. Wish we'd get the Nacy Blue Dredd sans bike however.
NYCC single figure release didnt have any numbers given. Those did show up on Ebay in decent numbers at a price I grumbled about but not that much. Bike set limited to 50 piecesHopefully proper fans at the con will get a good chunk of them. Scalpers that pick up the rest will have a field day on Ebay.
I've asked on Mezco's FB if they are planning a single bike release later. I'm not hopeful on a reply tbh, even if it is to be released later its unlikely they would admit it until after SDCC. Asked if any implications for the Navy blue set as well, any reply I'll post.

It's quite an interesting keg of worms when you start delving into it though:
I found a lovely film on the internet where Julie and Sarah discussed how hot their friend Inga was and one thing led to another, and... well, let's just say that I never knew feminism could be so sexy! Turns out this stuff is all over the internet. I don't what women are complaining about...
Cheers
