D'oh! I've only just noticed the obvious Frank Weitz/Clara Weitz connection.

Brass Sun is 116—a great strip, but unfinished and in a format here that won't best the existing Rebellion hardcover I own.

This is a frustrating one for me too. Is it too much to hope that its appearance might prompt Tharg to get his finger out over continuing the series?

I'm going to defend sludgy Gideon on the grounds that it's bringing him obviously closer to the golem of Jewish folklore.

I don't tend to have much time for the "The Order is too confusing" crowd but it can be a bit exasperating having different sets of disparate characters chasing around in different locations and often dropping out of sight for weeks on end. Inquisitor Brown showing up this week reminds me that the last time we saw him or even heard him mentioned was as a surprise cliffhanger partway through the previous story... that hasn't been followed up until now.

It seems like Dragon Tales should have been both better and longer lived. Could it be revived? The dragon dollar! That's a pretty big dollar!

It's a bit odd that Tharg should do a series of one-off dragon stories when there was a big new series about dragons in the offing.

Or maybe 'Firekind' went so far off-model with its hard SF alien biology storyline that old green bonce decided we needed something more trad first?

Reprinted as Ring My Bell

Actually it was titled Ring My Bell in its original publication, that's the title that appears on the Yearbook's contents page. "The Golden Mile" was wrongly identified as the title because those are the words which appear in bold type in the narration box in the first panel. Several stories on Barney are erroneously attributed titles in this way.

The best one is the Future Shock from Prog 1872, which is called 'The Modular War' and has that title prominently displayed on the page. Barney thinks it's called 'Connection Lost', because those words appear on a screen in the background of the action on the same page.

That's a nice pic of annuals that never were, but quite optimistic on the page counts for certain years!

Imagine the contents of the end of year specials but bulked out with abridged reprints of ten year old thrills and lots of grainy bw features about solar farms or the Loch Ness Monster.

Good to see [spoiler]Midnight Indicating Shame[/spoiler] back. I was a bit worried that she and [spoiler]Vex [/spoiler]might have parted ways for good.

The most poignant thing about The Musical! is that [spoiler]Sensitive finally meets someone who thinks he's as much of a creative genius as he imagines he is[/spoiler] but then [spoiler]literally tosses him away for a chance to stan Dredd[/spoiler].

So what happened to Enormo Overdrive II?

I'm not sure that the villain's motives in [spoiler]Judge Dredd: The Musical![/spoiler] make much sense. Surely if he's [spoiler]out to avenge his illustrious forebear[/spoiler] then his target would be [spoiler]Dirty Frank not Dredd and Sensitive, who were basically bit players in the demise of Big Barry Penge[/spoiler].

Also, who cares? It's still great.
