General / Re: Garth Ennis. Fair play to him....

i dont think all of his Dredd stuff was terrible.he was up against a very high bench mark really.
he has stated he was a fan of dredd. so like any of us we would not be able to truly do him justice,
he is returning with a dredd tale soon, i have heard. i will read it and enjoy it for what it is,.his style has inmproved and his preacher stuff for me was really enjoyable.
his irish references.
ok dredd in ireland. was an error in judgement. but nothing wrong with being successful and enjoying the fact.
i always feel he tends to write what he enjoys to read or would like to have read by someone else, references form his own background in the varoius worlds he helps create.
we all enjoyed the recent young midden face with the boarders names in it. perhaps he is just liek us on that level.
i look forward to his forthcoming projects and will not pre judge them.he just made his mistakes in a high profile way.

General / adult without nudes and swearing.
28 November, 2002, 11:47:57 AM
in the last few years i have noted a very strong edge to wards a slightly older story telling style. we have debated the nudity and swearing at long lenghs.
but recently we have had some moving, disturbing, thought provoking images.
" can i see the rabbits now" that was a truly adult and also well written and artistic moment. i read it stopped and read it again.

the recent Judge Death story.
the young midden face with its sub plot of drug abuse.
we have had flashes such as this on a more regular basis in the last few years.
so well written and drawn you can still allow young minds to enjoy tooth and the meg. but also feel the moment as an adult.
to me we are enjoying the finest standards we have been witness to in the last 25 years.
my thoughts how do others see the current levels of thrill power.

i tried but it never appealed to me.
art was a bit off as well. looked like it was being drawn in a hurry, i was never able to get into the world he was supposed to inhabit.

It'd be a cheap and exploitative playstation game instead.

now that was below the belt there.
i reckon it would likely be a sort of toxic meets crisis thing.

i think i would also beg ian gibson to alow me to ask alan moore if he would be willing to taek his lifeboat art work and create the story for it.

though i know this would make ian very busy, after this was finished he could then work on the suggested story form a thread many moons ago, samantha slade. we get robo hunter style. with a gibson beauty, sounds like a plan to me.

BEG alan moore to return. throw rose petals across his path if i needed to.

declare the final solution took place but in an alternate universe, return johhny alpha.

begin a dredd mega epic. of awesome proportions ending with him as Chief Judge.using the pit format of chapters within a bigger story.

place an instruction to accounts that all script writers or artists who include boarders names in any accepted and used submissions will be paid a bonus of 50% for there very hard work.

hold one staff meeting of all contributors to 2000ad over the years. enjoy being in the presence of such luminary talents.you only have one day might as well enjoy it.

the main thing tooth has done that no one else has'
perhaps survived in all intense and purposes in the same basic format it began with.
quite and achievement in the industry. not a single stand alone title as with many american titles but an anthology.which has grown and kept its is core pure.

I never liked Gibson's dredd much anyway

thin ice there Bjpward, very very thin ice.

i have not read this prog yet,but i KNOW with a Gordon Robbie script and gibson art im in for a treat. by the way MR IAN GIBSON should receive a night hood.for his talent in art.
