Peel it off! Do it NOW!
Use steam to make it peel naturally! You have a duty to find out!

Glad you like it!  The detail Colin lavished on these early strips is really impressive (and the pages I have are pretty huge, around 38 x 56cm).  The thing I like best about his work is the fact that solid-looking tech and loose, free-flowing linework sit side by side so comfortably.  The shading under Dredd's elbow in that centre-left panel is just beautiful...

I may as well throw in a better pic of this Rogue page while I'm at it (apologies if I already posted this but I can't keep track of this thread these days):

Here you go lad(ette)s - My computer skills are bad and my scanner is not big enough so I have badly stuck these 2 images together for a full scan

And here is a detail scan

And yes, it's amazing!

Purity's head is painted on another piece of card and stuck on. The surround of the picture is a sea of masking tape. And I have no idea what it is painted in but it is shiny. Perhaps enamel paints.

Marmite , i hate to say this ,i hate this cover, its clumsy and out right amateur ..... it reflect's nothing of the genius of Johnny and his interior pages .... Marmite you either love it or don't ....

And i expect a kicking for writing this ....

Good stuff there, Dale. As a Hammer fan, thats a interesting find -  pre-production poster art for what turned out to be Dracula A.D 1972.

How in the world did you come by this??

Struggling a bit here , what was Alan Moore's first printed Script in 2000ad ( including sci fi special ect ) is it these pages ??? from the 1980 sci fi special June 1st ..??

Assuming that's Holiday In Hell (Sci-fi Special 1980), then yes. Gary Spencer Millidge's Storyteller also gives Moore's first work printed in the prog itself as Killer In The Cab (July 1980), and that's definitely the submission Alan Grant describes telling the novice Moore to try and trim some fat from if he wants to have his first published work in 2000ad - so it seems odd that your pages found their way into print slightly more quickly. Congrats, Dale.

Like your Bacon ...

Yes these are Holiday In Hell and printed on 1st June 1980 http://www.2000ad.org/?zone=prog&page=specials&choice=SCIFI80

Now i wonder what they are worth .... i so fooking love my Time Machine ...

Even knowing that's Ian Kennedy, aside from Dredd's boot (and the bloody great signature) I still can't get it as Ian Kennedy! Don't know why just doesn't look like his work to my eyes???

Check out the muzzle flash and the lighting on the shoulder eagle, not to mention the background vehicles - it's very Kennedy.  I suspect what's throwing you is the face - it's unlike anything he normally does, in fact if I wasn't looking at the original art there I'd suspect some Robin Smith bodging about the whole head area.  Maybe he was working directly from a Smith reference for the face?  Bloody lovely though, that special saw me through a wet fortnight in Waterford.

EDIT: Campbell beat me to it.

Fuck you'r right ..... the head is stuck on ....wonder whats under it ...???
