YUCK!

I am so slow.....

To be fair; I'm very childish, but I'm not sorry and I'd do it again!

It has long been my opinion that government is just a high level admin job. Unfortunately, the only people can do that kind of job, where your every decision can affect huge numbers of people in negative ways, whether you intend it or not, are psychotics.

Just caught up to the finale of Inside No 9.

I shall miss it dearly. It had that "hit and miss" quality that plagues anthology series, but that what keeps bringing me back. The misses were still compelling in this show. And I think it's a testament to Pemberton and Shearsmith that so many luminaries of British TV gave up their time for the finale.

This calls for a whole new thread.

Film & TV / Re: New Alien Movie On Hulu?

Quote from: The Legendary Shark on 20 August, 2024, 05:52:43 PMIt's not a question of morality for me, but quality (or, in this instance, the lack of it).

For me it's just feckin' weird that they thought it would have mass appeal. On an intellectual level I am aware Ian Holm was in the original movie, but I have never walked into an Alien sequel in the 21st century* thinking "I hope they bring back Bil-Bot Baggins".

*In retrospect, I wish that sentence ended there.

That sounds like a great Coen brothers movie:

A nerdy multimedia company director, through a series of bad decisions, gets entangled in dodgy deals with PMCS. Pat Mill exacerbates the situation by suggesting the use of AI.

This is starting to starting to get more embarassing than that thread we used to have with women's underware.

It is March 2012.

Quote from: JayzusB.Christ on 04 August, 2024, 08:42:11 PMIt's happening in Dublin too, sadly.  People who have happily let the government shaft them for decades are now aggressively active against desperate refugees.

Yeah, a few blue shirts were up in Belfast over the weekend. The sight of people waving the union jack and tricolour beside each other outside city hall is quite heartwarming once you completely remove the disgusting context.

That's not nearly as absurd as the reality. Behold; GAMMON! What has 5 thumbs and no shame?

Quote from: JayzusB.Christ on 25 July, 2024, 01:52:24 PMI'm always surprised by the disproportionately huge number of Irish Trump supporters that comment on online Irish articles about the US elections. It just doesn't match the percentage of actual Trump admirers I've met here.

So, is it actual Russian troll farms at work? Or coordinated online mobs tipping one another off? Or, most likely, are the armchair MAGAists the type of people who spend all their time combing the internet for articles to comment on?
Probably a little of all three, but Russian bot farms are a real thing. A lot of them are easy to spot, the egg avatar bunchofnumbers accounts, but some of them are quite sophisticated.

There's also a lot of conservative Christian groups in Ireland who get a lot of funding from their American counterparts to campaign against the gays and abortions.

We've been lucky in Belfast today. It has only rained when I took the dog out for a dander
