Fast Five
Started watching before I realised it was a Fast & the Furious sequel, which was of course obvious in not very far hindsight. As big dumb action films go it was great, bit of bank job type thing about it which is always good and of course loads of mental car chases/crashes, while trying to outdo the Blues Brothers for cop cars smashed up. It didn't, but then what could?  :D

Most cheesetastic non-sensical line from Vin - "You ain't in America no more. This is BRAZIL!!!" Ummm...

As Fast & Furious films go it was pretty good too really. Extra laughs from Dwayne thingy (The Rock) being in it too. Oh, and the guy that was Bucho in Desperado as the bad guy  :D

I bloody love that silly, stupid, wonderful film. The Rock's super shiny arms has to be one of the best sight-gags in any movie ever.

21 Jump Street. The remake. For the most part it was a a bland movie with some cringey meta-humour about the old show, but the suprise
appearance of Johnny Depp was quite funny.
. If'n I were you I'd just look at that spoiler, I don't think it's worth watching the whole film.

Meshuggah practically ruined metal for me. Nothing else in the genre comes close. Tomas Haake is un-be-cocking-lievable. Go see that band live if you don't believe me

You had the misfortune to be a bearded baldie (and therefore disgusting) posting in the middle of some tangent about what science if and isn't.

Yeah that was fun.

I have just realized I don't have any photos of myself from the past 3 years. Does this mean I'm a vampire? Because that would be embarassing. Apparently there was this thing called Twilight and all vampires are gay now?
Apparently people who clearly weren't the target audience read/watched it just to piss themselves off? And now they devote their time to slag something of that they don't like?

Ye'd have to ask my wee sister, I really don't understand the whole thing.

Sorry, I'm talking shite. Very sleep deprived. Here's me the morning after my sister's wedding reception, when I actually did get some sleep:

Everyone had wandered back to their rooms but I was unaccounted for. This is how they found me before breakfast. When I asked the Bar man why he just didn't wake me and chuck me out, he replied:

'Ach, well, I didn't want tee disturb ye. Ye looked comfortable enough. Same again?'

Now THAT's a good bar man.

Jesus do I hate living in this shitty, backwards, insular wee province.

Gene-pools are the opposite of swimming pools in that they are more dangerous when they're shallow.

I might let her have the second half of my twix, though.

Fuck Twixes, if they were any good ye'd be happy with just one. Same goes for Twirls.

Worst Holiday Ever.

Booked a wee Holiday home in Donegal with the family.

Left yesterday

Started with a 3 hour car journey with my sister's dog farting merrily all the way. if you don't know what a dog fart is like, I can assure you that you are missing out on one of mother nature's bitch moves.

That night, I discovered my matress was an assortment of randomly alligned springs with a thin layer of material wrapped around it. That, compounded by the Dog whining all night, meant I got maybe a full hour of sleep.

So I've cut my losses and I'm back home now. After a four and a half hour bus journey. Some people say a screaming child is the worst thing on public transport. They are full of wrong. The worst thing on public transport is a gaggle of gossiping middle-aged Irish women after you've had fuck all sleep.

Worst Holiday Ever (that didn't involve an airport).

But the worst thing?

I didn't catch a single damn fish. Now I actually have to fucking BUY food this week.

These three books also remind me what an utter sewer British comics have become these days, as Thundercats is shite that's available anywhere while Mezolith and Mobot High couldn't be found on news stands as no matter how hard I tried I couldn't find the DFC anywhere, a problem that sank it and which I assume will also sink its successor The Phoenix, which I also can't find anywhere.  Sad.

I agree. Even 2000AD...In my local FP the GNs are buried on the bottom shelf in the back corner on the second floor. It's not even worth checking if they have the prog on time. And Strip magazine...Jesus. They took 2 months to get issue 2 in.

This is the correct thread, right ?

No, that would be this thread. Although you might not be able to tell at first glance. Don't forget to point out how very clever and deep you are while you're there

I should dig out some of my old progs. I remember really enjoying The Cal Files and all the intrigue. Does anyone know if Edgar's still alive? She and Dredd had a fantastic dynamic going on between them. Talking about this era of 2000AD, does anyone remember Luke Kirby? I enjoyed those stories. Must find out if they ever released any trades.

Anyway, a recap on my own reading, because I just know you're dying to hear about it.

I'm up to speed on the Song of Fire and Ice Saga, having read all 5 available books. To be honest I think he (GRRM) could have told the same story in three and a half books, but then again, I haven't read the whole series so some of the 'extra' threads might be needed to tie the whole thing together at its conclusion.
E.g Arya Stark, I have no idea what the point of her plotline is. She's learning to be an assassin now, but its not clear how that's going to fit in with the rest of plot.
Also read The Wee Free Men by Pratchett. Lots of fun. Hat Full of Sky next and I'm looking forward to it

Off Topic / Re: selling: ebay vs Amazon?
23 March, 2012, 02:07:02 PM
Depends what you're selling I suppose. Ebay's better if you want to get rid of bric-a-brac for example. I used to work for Amazon so I'd be more biased towards them. I think the most important thing for small indy sellers is to choose just one of these outlets at a time. When I worked in Amazon, we'd have sellers who would have the same item listed on Amazon, E-bay, Play.com and God knows where else. They'd sell it on one site and forget to take it off the others. Nightmare.

That's not really useful advice thoght is it.

We both know...

There's only one wat to find out....

Just out of curiosity, can anyone name me one thing useful that philosophy has ever contributed to the human race?
I mean, science has given us thing like drugs, powered flight, warm homes and clothing and computers.
Art has given us everything from Bob Dylan to the Mona Lisa.
Philosophy... someone help me out..?
