Cheers Jim, but to be fair seeing some of the stuff here rather overshadows my enthusiastic amateurish attempts. Any tips or advice from you talented people would be much appreciated

First Story I remember had the Cover 'Dredd Gives the Circus a Red Card', although that wasn't the first prog I bought. I just remember the panel when he shots the strongman's bar and the weights swing down a crush his skull between them, revealing him to be a robot

Two Eskimos were paddling about in their canoe, doing a bit a fishing, when one Eskimo turns to the other and says,
'I'm cold. Are you cold?' >:(

Second Eskimo says: 'Aye, I'm definitly cold.' >:(

First Eskimo says: 'Will we start a wee fire?' :-*

Second Eskimo says:'What here? In the boat?' :|

First Eskimo says:'It'll be fine?' ;)

Second Eskimo says:'Go for it then' ::)

So they start a fire, it burns through the hull and they sink.

The moral of the story is you can't have your kayak and heat it.

Ahem. This thing on?

It's interesting to compare Dredd's continuity with Marvel/DC (retcon/floating time-line/elseworlds/what-ifs/multiverse) continuity. Thing's like the Apocalypse War, the Judge Child, the whole mechanismo program and even all that business with Call-Me-Kenneth, are like historical events. They're things that happened a long time ago in Dredd's universe.

Dredd's being going longer than I've been alive.

His own strip? I'd love to see him take over from Tharg. Not permanently, just for a month or so.

Dredd's probably the only character whose creator has worked on for over thirty years. After putting in all that spade work, I doubt Wagner's going to reboot Dredd, and if anyone else attempted it, I doubt it would have much credibility.

But he is ageing (and still growing up) in the comic, so he can't go on living forever. So what happens when he eventually does die?

Surely Dredd hasn't been wearing the SAME pair of boots all these years..... ::)

I like Gibson, except for some of his work on Dredd.

I've only read the first trade of Nemisis, it's good stuff.

But I've never liked Slaine.

The thing about those gadgets is, you can read whatever ye want, without other people on the bus/train judging you by the cover of the book you've chosen to read.

There are collections of 100 or so 'must read' books from all different genres that are usually fairly cheap. That would be a good starting point I think

Well Ultimates was part of a reboot of the entire Marvel Franchise, and although Caps was 80, He'd been frozen in the arctic for nearly 60 years

A Spatchcock and Flintlock series where they act as each others' wingmen, as they trawl through the empires seediest establishments, and constantly get knocked back/ have to run away from angry boyfriends.
