Didn't think Secret was that bad - although there are a few beers involved.  Felt like Ocean was missing a few pages though...

Bears got it exactly.  You certainly couldn't move forward with any intent - as much chance as ending up somewhere completely desolate as somewhere useful.

In fact knowing humans, probably more chance of landing in a fecked up timeline...

If you can move forward there is a v.slim chance that you could travel to your own time line I suppose (1 in billions) as long as you cause an event which was historical for you - however you wouldn't be able to succeed in changing it, if you wanted to return...

As I see it this is what happens.

Lets start with the timeline up to the point where Hitler is killed.

Lets call this timeline (1).

You live in a timeline descended from this timeline - call it (1a).  In this timeline Hitler dies by his own hand at the end of WWII.  You are born sometime later and get hold of a time machine (somehow) at age 30 and travel along timeline (1a) to some point in Hitlers past.

You kill Hitler.  At this point a new timeline (1b) is created.  You now exist in this timeline for the rest of your life.

So from 0 - 30 you live in timeline 1a and from 30 - death in 1b.

Because events in the future of 1b are different to where you come from, from your new perspective you can never get to 1a.

You are however normal.  You know of what "would have been" from the perspective of everyone else.  But none of that matters or will ever exist in your new timeline.

Time continues to act on you normally from 30 onwards.

Personally I do not think forward travel is possible because the timelines do not exist - or are so fractured.  My opinion tho;

Hence multiverse theory.

You create 2 timelines - the one you came from (with Hitler) and the new one (the one without).  In the new one you never travel back as there is no need as there is no Hitler.

However, you can never travel back to your "own" timeline as it doesn't exist with respect to your current position (with dead Hitler) as the divergence happened when you killed him.

This has the advantage of protecting your own birth as the timeline you were born in was created seperatly.  However your future self may not be born in the timeline you are now in after killing Hitler.

Whether it is possible to travel forward in time at a rate faster than normal is a totally different matter.

It's not particularly good for the continuing strength of the series here either... Someone needs to be shot for that.

Wonder how this affects the pictures we saw from "Colin" in the first ep?  Will the doctor ever see Kennedy?

This confirms my biggest fear about Eccleston as the Doctor.  I really doubted he would be there for the long haul - expected him to last more than 13 eps tho'

It's weird, going into it, apart from the BBC's commitment/fan reaction, why would anyone with a fear of being typecast take this gig.... grrr!!

Guy from casanova would be a good choice tho'.  Puts a downer on the next episode now...

Photoshop will allow you to work with a web palette - different browsers have slightly different colour choices - and this is a pretty good way of making sure your site looks OK

From the pov of loading times you want to go for as limited a palette as possible...

Must say I loved it despite the flaws.  Yes, the FX were crap.  But we knew they would be.

But I thought that Ecclseton and Piper were great in their respecitve roles.  Hope that Chris doesn't ditch the loon aspect too soon.

The one thing that I thought was a missed oppurtunity was with the Shed scene.  In the BBC3 thing afterwards they said they deliberatly decided against regeneration (it may be flash-backed later) as it would alienate too many new viewers - fair enough.

However, rather than all the photos of the 9th Doctor (how dodgy were they?) we could have had mentions of him in UNIT and references to some of the others... Oh well.

Roll on next week

Dan
