is Alan McKenzie an ageing goth, or what?

At the risk of another 'I loathe 1990' thread, reckon he was more like a cringeworthy uncle, trying to be down with da kids.http://www.2000adonline.com/covers/2000ad/mediumres/692.jpg">

Duhh.. from fuzzy memory... (having a fuzzy kinda day) they can see through walls and camo-cloaks, plant hypnotic suggestions, read minds / memories, even memories off a skull if it hasn't been left too long, and blow up the energy cell in a gun if it's been dropped at the gloating baddie's feet.

Plenty of links. Some useful historical American stuff possibly. (Ignore the bits from www.comic-art.com, though, they're mostly not much cop).

The art throughout Block Mania fascinates me. It works so wonderfully the choice of multiple artists could almost have been intentional from the outset (though that wasn't the case, and McMahon was supposed to draw all of it and had to bow out, yet it still works).

You can imagine someone thinking that as the story starts off with oddball citizens, that McMahon's quirkiness would be needed, then immense battles calling for Smith's sense of scale, a manhunt requiring Dillon's grittiness, and Bolland's detailed figures for a fist fight.

Any multi artist epic really needs that, to have a story that plays to the individual artist's strengths. Think it's only been intentionally done on The Cursed Earth and The Judge Child and actually worked.

That and blitzkrieg actually involves capturing stuff, rather than just sitting back and expecting the enemy to be so impressed they'll simply throw in the towel. Nice one, Don.

I don't think they're really the same. Shock and awe seems to involve standing off and demonstrating as much tactical air / missile power as possible, while blitzkrieg is a combined assault, with a variety of forces moving in simultaneously at speed. The same difference as hitting someone from a distance or running up to them.

Sorry, got to differ. Never mind Moore, D.R. & Quinch's success was just as much down to Alan Davies' hysterical art, and inspired phrases like "milk happy scumbucket" made the excruciating agony pages spot on.
